Indeed it's my go to for Flying Snails but I fancy some Red Hands for some variety. 10 hours ago, Lambeg man said: The Brunswick' green from Humbrol is too light for UTA 'green'. I am not aware of an accurate off the shelf product. I have always added a small dollop of MATT black to the Humbrol GLOSS 'Brunswick' green and achieved a reasonable representation of the darker UTA tone. Thanks Lambeg man, I will have to try that next time. Thanks for the tip! 1 Quote

DoctorPan Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Along lines broad and narrow... One of the MSR's Parliamentary train rakes, made up of two cut down Dundas VoR coaches and what I think is a Dundas Pickering brake I picked up cheap on the bay. Continuing the 1600mm model theme of NPCVs, a very famous and familar coach is taking shape once more. Just really needs a minature burco boiler for the tae. 3 Quote
DoctorPan Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Finished the new MSR stock enteries. Showcasing the evolution of the MSR livery from the busy colours of the early 1890s to the plain 'sunshine' colours of WWI simplicity where manpower and resources were tight on the north west corner of Sodor. No.20, a compo brake van, the early MSR filirted with provision of 1st class passengers but soon found that bar his Grace, the usilitation of such facilites were not worth the effort to maintain it and so soon downrated it to 3rd class only but seasoned travellers would know which compartments offered a little bit more comfort then the usual fare! Nos 10 & 19, are Mid Sodor own builds at their works in Arlesdale to their own in house design, No.19 is fitted with side boards to allow usage on the ever popular "The Picnic", the service the MSR offered during summer to holiday makers, a request stop service that travelled the line stopping at local beauty spots and points of interest to allow holidaymakers to enjoy the Sudrian countryside. 3 Quote

Cambrian Model C67 kits painted with a mix of Humbrol 16 Spray and 154 to bring out the contrasting shades for the panels I wanted to model of varying sunbleaching. DoctorPan Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 While waiting for payday and transfers to come, finally pulled the finger out and started on finishing this half finished ebay conversion of a WT tank. Put her into primer to assess the work done and identify any areas needing tidying up as well as drawing up a to-do list and shopping list for the project. Once my snag list was drawn up, started work on it, replacing the stock lamp irons with etched ones, filing and adding filler to the cab and bunker changes. Need to add new steps to the bunker. 11 Quote
Galteemore Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Great stuff. Old school modelling - love it! Primer is excellent in how it both conceals and reveals - blending parts together but also highlighting things you hadn’t spotted. Looking forward to seeing this one finished - looks promising. 1 2 Quote

DoctorPan Posted March 27, 2023 Author Posted March 27, 2023 The final addition to the NIR engineers fleet. Muck, rust, earth, stone and bit of grease and oil streaks and this battered hopper is on its last legs. Now just needs something blue to haul the rake. 12 Quote

DoctorPan Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 While having the MSR fleet lined up for the first time in a while, I became aware of Duke's less then ideal finish and general unhappniess with his look, so a strip back and repaint has him looking far better. Still need to get around ordering lining and nameplates for him, but he can sit there, looking more like how No.1 should look like. 11 Quote
DoctorPan Posted June 2, 2023 Author Posted June 2, 2023 Having done two of the GSR/CIE Pullmans, I was left with a spare and I fancied adding some GNR(I) brown to my carriage fleet which lead me to ponder how to justify Dundalk purchasing a Pullman. An exploration of a "What-if" scanerio developed between a friend of mine and myself after disucssions on how things would have changed on the railways if certain key decisions went the other way. This being, what if Dundalk had build that Ten Wheeler proposed by Clifford in 1911 and what would have happened to the GNR(I) rippling out from this? 1 Quote
Galteemore Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 (edited) Very nice indeed. Quite plausible for the GNR to have acquired one or two along with the compounds, or in 47 as part of the Enterprise package. After all, the Southern Railway began a new Pullman service that very year - the Devon Belle - so Pullmans were not obsolete in railway management eyes. Edited June 2, 2023 by Galteemore 1 Quote
