I received the following email at work this morning:

News Release

Calling all Toy train lovers in Roscommon - Major Christmas railway exhibition on the way

Are you a train spotter? Have you an interest in railways and especially of the model variety?

Roscommon Leo club is presently putting together a major exhibition of railway toy trains for the enjoyment of the young people and perhaps the slighly older ones too this Christmas Holiday Season.

We hope to assemble several large models ranging from Hornby all the way down to the modern day exploits of Thomas The Tank Engine at a central venue in the Roscommon town area from a date in early December and we are now appealing for your help and assistance.

The exhibition will be free of charge but donations will be accepted throughout its duration for the Leo club and local charities so please help if you can.

We're looking for toy train sets of all generations in reasonable working order for use in the exhibition which will be supervised at all times. We are asking you to bring along your own sets which, in conjucntion, with dozens of others will produce a truly memorable working exhibition on toy trains for the benefit and enjoyment of our young audience.

For more information and to volunteer your involvement please e mail roscommonlionsclub[at]gmail.com or contact the President of Roscommon Leo club President Aaron Curley e-mail : prop303[at]hotmail.com or contact any member of the Lions club.

My advice to them is twofold

Wait till after Christmas to hold it as most available days before Christmas have been booked at this stage

January can be a good time as people need to escape from Bing Crosby & co.

Talk to someone who has been involved in running a similar show, this event seems to be too amateurish in concept, something thought up when there was a lot of Guinness available.

Exactly so why would you trust them with your prized possessions:confused:

What I was inferring was that they need guidance. Their contact details are listed above, so it would be an altogether better idea to get in touch with them and offer advice, rather than slating them here for trying to do something for a charitable cause.

I've already fired off an email and hope to hear back from them soon.
