ON THIS DAY (31ST JANUARY 2006) at 18;06

The last ever beet train departed Wellingtonbridge for Mallow behind 081.

I was lucky enough to be there for the last three days of the last season. Hard to believe that was fifteen years ago. But did not take the video camera for this trip.

Here are the last videos that I took at the start of the last ever Beet season.

A photo of the last departure can be found at

Most of the pictures were lost when the old Foto-pic site closed.

Hope that you can enjoy the film and it brings back some happy memories of these trains.

Is the anywhere that I would be able to buy OO gauge “Ready to Run” double stacked Corrugated sided Irish sugar beet wagons?

Or is there a possibility that Irish Railway Models would be releasing a range of Irish sugar beet wagons in the future?

As the already have the wonderfully detailed liner flats & by just adding an open toped red container to this range of wagons, they would have a set of modern beet wagons to start the sets off. With the corrugated side versions to follow.

Just an idea and a lot of hope.

Stay safe every one and together we can all get through these trying times.

Happy modelling.

Kahier Model Railway.

Great videos to watch.... but also Kahier Model Railway looks great.  Great work already but a lot of potential too.   The working semaphore signals are the best l've seen for sure!!!👍👍👍
