  1. The storage sidings are just for locos and short freight trains. Given the size of the layout and space around the container terminal I won't be running long trains.
  2. Such a lovely atmosphere to this layout, really like the street scene. Top class
  3. Added in a head shunt, it's a bit out of the way but should be ok.
  4. Should be a fun layout, I want to be able to do a lot of shunting as well as watch trains running. I won't be able to leave it up all the time as the only spare space is the work shop. But it won't take long to assemble and when I am setting it up in the workshop it won't need legs as it will sit on the assembly bench. Made some changes as per your suggestion and it looks much better.
  5. How about this
  6. I use MDF Noel, works well and nice and flat and smooth. If you want I can cut some to size for you.
  7. Thanks lads, Noel made an adjustment to allow easier access to the turn table.
  8. So after a year and a half of getting nothing done on getting my shed built because of an extension and attic conversion so I have decided to build a portable layout until I build the shed. It will be 3300mm long x 1500mm wide in 3 sections. I will be able to take it to shows so people can see it progress, I will be fitting the points with servo motors and trying out a new control system. Points will be controlled by DCC and analogue switches. The DCC module can control up to 192 points! It's an all freight layout with an container terminal. It will also be able to link into the modular baseboard system. I would welcome and ideas on the track plan. Now to get a baseboard.......
  9. Lovely work Eamon, taking shape nicely.
  10. Not at all Geoff, it's a really nice layout. Looking forward to the next instalment:tumbsup:
  11. That's a lovely layout, I love the burning building.
  12. Is this the one?
  13. Hi Kevin, what about one of these. They look very well when built. I have built a few for customers. http://scalescenes.com/products/R017-Viaduct-Arches
  14. Happy new year everyone, health and happiness to all
  15. Happy birthday Pat, have a good one
  16. I'm not sure Noel who makes them for Hattons, but they work fine for me.

What's it like on slow running?
  18. They look great! Well done. The only problem using aerosols is the paint is too thick and the volume of paint can be too much for small details. I would recommend using an airbrush, you would be amazed at the finish you can get. They are quite easy to use.
  19. Lovely shot there Ben, more pics please
  20. Happy birthday Fran. Hope you have a good one
  21. It's coming along nicely, you should drill holes in the baseboard for the power cables would look a lot better:tumbsup:
  22. Just read this thread from the start, you have the makings of a fine layout. Very well planned. The pocket wagons look great. Did you get a container crane yet?
  23. I love this shot, very iconic.
  24. Looks great, really like that livery. Layout is taking shape nicely
