  1. Sorry for the slow response, I am off sick at the moment and a little out of the loop on things. They are being packed over the weekend and should be posted on Monday
  2. I can confirm those numbers are wrong, about double that left. They will also be available from the RPSI stand at the Blackrock show
  3. If by green ones you mean the Dublin based heritage set, which is mostly green, then the answer is yes. They ran together until the heritage set was withdrawn in 2010. There was also two green cravens in a temporary livery for a while (1529 & 1539) Then there is the Whitehead based MK2 set and the cravens have not run with those, while the couplers and brakes are compatible the the gangways are not.
  4. there is a bit more detail here http://www.dttas.ie/speeches/2017/minister-ross-budget-2018-speech

  7. Might be of interest, Pictures in link
  8. why can I never find buyers with that sort of money.
  9. No, most are colour light, I think there are 1 or 2 controlled by check cabin that are semaphore. The Foynes and Castlemungret branches were semaphore prior to being disconnected.
  10. Thats pretty much it As far as I know the layout will remain the same with the exception of straightening platform 3. The signals are being replaced with new led heads but the positioning should be the same.
  11. Currently Foynes and Castlemungret are disconnected at Limerick Check and have been for some time, to reopen you would need new points and signalling (not to mention a complete relay of the line). After these works you would still need new points and new signalling just controlled from a different place.
  12. They are closing Limerick station Cabin and Check Cabin and merging them into a single computer based control system to be located in one of the old offices, which will presumably be relocated to the new signalling center to be based in Heuston at a later date. Platform 3 is to be straitened out and relayed and I believe they will be demolishing check cabin. There is no provision for Foynes or Castlemungret in the works but there is also barriers to adding them later if required. They are also planning work on the Shannon bridge in Limerick.
  13. I hope to go but it depends on what time I can get finished

  21. There is a requirement to perform a bake test (specifically a brake continuity test) between the front of the train, usually the locomotive and the rear of the last vehicle. Where the last vehicle is a brake van there is a brake lever and vacuum gauge in the guards compartment to allow this, where the last vehicle is a standard coach or freight wagon ect this is done via a device called a tailpiece. The tailpiece fits on the end of the vacuum hose and contains a vacuum gauge and valve to allow the brake test. I am sure I have a picture of one somewhere, I will post it if I can find it.
  22. I believe the funding was part of the money for the creation of the museum
  23. Well this is a quote from the recent e-bulletin As for who thought it was a good idea , probably the same people who wont put the Dublin based Facebook or twitter links in the email bulletins. or put any Dublin based contact details on the website.
  24. The old rail fan news and old issues of 5 foot 3 are supposed to be coming back but no date (not even an aspirational date) has been given. The other information about locos and waggons is also supposed to return but in the meantime we are left with this mess which lacks some basic features like links to the Dublin and Belfast operations Facebook pages and twitter Supposedly it was a rush job due to time tables being imposed by the external funding.
