  1. I like to have the extra power especially on long trains and big gradients Seamus. And sometimes I'd want to run them single too. DCC gives you nice flexibility to do both.
  2. There is some site maintenance going on at the moment, the missing posts will show up again when the work is finished.
  3. Yep, interesting to see how good they are and what price they will be. I have 141s, 20s and 37s I'd like to pair up! Be interesting to see if they're any use in the 071s and 201s too.
  4. Love the Alco. BC green really suits them. I have a SP C630 winging its way to me as we speak. Should look good hooked up to my U50
  5. Bachmann have announced that they're doing a new 4 function 21pin DCC chip. This one now supports advanced consisting, which will be good news to those looking to run 141s in pairs. More details here http://www.bachmann.co.uk/details.php?id=85&vis=2
  6. The site is currently moving servers so this is the most likely reason why some posts are temporarily unavailable at the moment. I'm sure Stephen is working hard to restore them as I type. Look out for updates in the 'site news' section.
  7. True man, will be interesting to see. Will have to take a trip out when it escapes onto the mainline for a video if it is. Hopefully Dave will be secure the photo and share it. Also think it would be interesting if the new logo is being put on a 35 year old freight loco before anything else! Good to see money still being spent on the 071s. Airbrushes at the ready!
  8. At least it will be a new livery for Paddy to do too.
  9. Bachmann announce their products for the year in March. I'd say they'll announce the rights to do it (ala like they did with the 70) and it will come out in about 18 months time or so. That's if they choose to do it. I read that some will be delivered in Northern Belle livery too so there will be 2 liveries to do.
  10. Wouldn't have thought the yellow would be on it if it was just primed.
  11. That guy's YouTube channel has lots of videos of the layout and some nice steam too. Been trying really hard not to buy a JLTRT kit for a while now, just glad I don't have the space for it at the moment!
  12. Just about! Lol The 68 is an upgrade on the 67, with a new power unit and made from lighter materials (the 67 has a bit of a weight issue, restricting it from lots of lines) The strange one will always be the 70, as on the tops numbering system number 70 and above was traditionally for electric traction. It'll be interesting to see who does a model of it 1st. The livery looks well, not sure about the face. A bit like an ugly but well dressed lady!
  13. Interesting Dave, looks like the freight livery didn't last that long. Any word from your spies about the stored orange 201s? That were all out of the storage sidings when I went past Inchicore last week.
  14. Tried and failed to get tickets for this. They did it in Dusseldorf recently too.
  15. Nice video. When it comes to street view, would anyone be mad enough to like this? http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=377352&nseq=5
  16. Few different threads by the same guy (annoying) on the Diesel Detailer http://dieseldetailer.proboards.com/thread/11151 Pics http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag89/elDuderino97/P1010189.jpg http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag89/elDuderino97/P10101901.jpg http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag89/elDuderino97/P1010191.jpg
  17. I'll strap a banger to your Hiddenagenda sulzer next time I'm in Laois so Still haven't seen it, but there is a guy on another forum I frequent who is building the locos as per the film.
  18. Check out the SD45, SD45-2 or SD45T-2. Like a SD40-2 only louder and more powerful!
  19. Good man yourself. I'm off to raid our istock photo account to see if a model posing with a Sulzer will help Anthony like it more!
  20. Fair enough GM071, can't wait to see how you correct the roof issue yourself, hopefully you'll share your methods with us so others can use similar methods. I understand where you are coming from, and as I said elsewhere I will use my wallet to support these products, but I think it's only right that we can call a spade a spade. I personally do not think I will buy one of these kits as it just doesn't look like a sulzer to me. Maybe finished projects from people on here will help me change my mind but at the moment I will keep my wallet in my pocket. This might sound harsh but he would have more customers if it better and these comments wouldn't be happening. As for your last comment, I totally agree. However, I think the greater demand for more accurate and authentic models has lead to the riches we enjoy now like the Murphy 141 etc. If we didn't demand higher standard we might be still running Lima 33s! The standard has been upped and we want better standards. This seems to hark back to the old days in my opinion. Anthony is a modeller whose skills I massively respect. I have seen his kit built locos 1st hand and they're the best fist of MIR kits I've seen (and they weren't exactly great quality kits to begin with) and seeing the struggle he is having just confirms that these kits are beyond my modelling ability to make a good model of the prototype (to the standard not to look embarrassed next to a Murphy's 141). I would put his words down to frustration when working on them to be honest and I think we have moved on from that.
  21. Roco's 2013 catalogue has gone for an 'interesting' cover http://issuu.com/fleischmann_roco/docs/roco-neuheitenkatalog-2013 Any chance Paddy Murphy can do the same? Mind you, the models (people, not trains) they're using on their site are not what you'd usually see advertising model trains... http://www.roco.cc/en/home/index.html
  22. One question; Would you pay 100 euro for it? Before you answer I suggest you look at Robert's take on Anthony's pictures before answering. Fixing a lopsided roof is a pig of a job. Others are reporting that correcting the window profile is very difficult as the resin gets very thin. Des is a stand up guy who provides a lot of great products to us. However, that should not absolve his products of constructive criticism. There is nothing wrong with wanting something to be right and to be of good quality.
  23. I bought some stuff off them before (ltd editions, locos I couldnt get here) and it was usually between a week and 7 working days. They're a major outfit and do stack loads of mailorder, especially from their renowned 2nd hand ebay store.
  24. I went down that route before, the postage was very painful... I found a small shop in O'Connell street about a year ago selling them. The guy behind the counter looked bemused when I bought the whole lot he had for me, my g/f and my brother. He never got them back in and went out of business soon after. I have a pass for a cash and carry too but they never have them.
