  1. While I can't answer you regarding the best fit, the Bachmann will be the best runner. The Lima and the Hornby are the same chassis, but the Hornby will have a smoother running motor and should be DCC ready.
  2. What a top job. Well done on that!
  3. I did well to walk out of there without a challenger. Now that's restraint!
  4. I use halfords brake fluid myself. Put it in a bath of it for 24 hours or so, then scrub off with an old toothbrush.
  5. Quick note to say well done to the organisers. It was a fantastic fair I have to say, better than any Clontarf gig I had been to. Good venue, loads of stuff on offer and very good prices too. Well done to all involved!
  6. That's a serious amount of Lima, if a tad on the pricey side!
  7. Mainline would be early 80s too. It went on to become the Bachmann range around 1990. Would imagine that it would be cheap as chips too, maybe worth slightly more than the Lima set but Dave I'm sure would confirm for you.
  8. 46A will drop you outside.
  9. Have we mentioned this one before? If not, dream on. haha http://www.adverts.ie/crazy-random-stuff/lima-train-engines-carriage-and-tanker/109281
  10. Believe or not lifting rings aren't really used on British diesels. I'm struggling to think of any in fact!
  11. Aha, thought they were different all right. They look better than the Silver Fox ones to me. I wonder is the Silver Fox ones to scale, or made to suit the wheelbase of the donor bogies? Sorry for dragging your thread off topic. Lifting rings, would these be of use? HO for US diesels, but at this size scale would be negligible http://www.ebay.com/itm/Detail-Associates-HO-1101-Lift-Rings-18-/230851345358 I have bought plenty off this Ebay shop in the past, very good service.
  12. Dundrum isnt a million miles away, just say you're off to try something on and disappear for an hour....
  13. Was just wondering Dave. Wow, 80 tables, it's going to be big!
  14. Is there a list of traders Dave?
  15. I have to say I like the DDs, find them very comfortable and they're nice enough place to sit. No Mark III but the ride is decent. The Cork coaches are pretty awful though, seats are poor/hard, the ride is poor too, the feel like they hunt all over the place. Don't feel especially well made either. The ICRs are nicer, even with a engine under your feet. The worst of all though currently is the 1st generation Japanese DART units. Feel like you're leaning on a window ledge than sitting down!
  16. Marklin and Trix do one Rich.
  17. The real thing running on a special last month
  18. Yep. Should be a really good day out.
  19. I forgot about this thread, as a avid reader of Traction (mmm, all those Brit heritage diesels) the Irish article was a bonus, lovely pics and well researched article. Well worth picking up. Hope there'll be more to come.
  20. Cheers lads, that's interesting and Kirley has done a great job on them, hence I thought they were new mouldings. I still think there's a lot wrong with the Silverfox model, but it's all we got!
  21. In the UK a lot of people sell a loco in bits on Ebay, they tend to make more than selling the loco complete. I'm guessing this is what that fella is at. Spare parts are few and far between from UK outline manufacturers.
  22. Can we get a closer look at them bogie sideframes you have? They look much much better than those awful Silverfox ones to me!
  23. Are you seriously asking £80 for that?
  24. My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is not a porn star!
