  1. It's happening, the EU are making sure of that. It's only a question of when.
  2. WCRC 47 500 derails and goes on fire in Manchester. http://www.itv.com/news/granada/story/2013-01-23/train-derails-in-manchester/#derailed-train-catches-fire-on-a-manchester-city-centre-bridge_150706
  3. My favourite two things about this act of lunacy is 1. The people who voted for it in Kerry were made up largely of publicans and 2. It was explained as a way of saving lives by preventing suicide! So, of course it's okay that they kill themselves and others driving home hammered as it'll stop them killing themselves. Wowsers.

    The future?

I've looked on a couple of US forums and they all seem to share John's concerns. I just can't see though how Kato, who produce probably the smoothest motor of all would ditch it for an inferior drive system. Time will tell and as Anthony says feedback from modellers who have such models will be interesting.

    The future?

Shall we see the return to motor bogies in our locomotives? Kato have previewed this new system in a Japanese loco and will be coming soon to a new US outline loco in HO. There is nothing around as smooth as Kato's current motor, so it will be interesting to see if this new idea catches on. More room for speakers and weight at least! [video=youtube_share;lLK2tKssj5M]
  6. Welcome John, and sorry to see you have to part with your models. Please be aware that the guidelines for this area state that you must include a price for the items you are selling. Thank you.
  7. If it was a choice between having to watch F1 or Norwegian Curling I'd choose the cyanid pill.
  8. Looking forward to this myself, it's always good for curing my insomnia; Nnnnneeeoooooowwww Nnnnneeeeoowoowwww, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... Bring it on!
  9. Pretty sure they didn't.
  10. I've dropped a Kato motor into Athearn RTR locos with success. They're the same size as the old Athearn lump and run so much smoother. They also have the hexagonal cut outs for the Athearn drive shafts in their flywheels. 35 dollars off the Kato website. You can also buy them without flywheels and put the Athearn ones on. All you have to do is build a cradle for it to hold it in place. Brian Banna's youtube channel shows the process in more detail. http://www.youtube.com/user/6axlepwr
  11. Well worth a visit though and York is a lovely place in general.
  12. Jebus that's ghastly. I was never a huge fan of the plug logo when it replaced the IR points logo (still my favourite) but this is really bad. Can't see this becoming a design classic. Is there a need to keep changing logos? After all, if you look across the water the 'arrows of indecision' are still used on every station and map in the UK despite the mass privatisation. IE would be better off having one classic logo for trains and leave it at that. I hope they don't change Bus Eireann and Dublin Bus too.
  13. Nobody is going to admit to that Rich!
  14. They were pricey and as rare as rocking horse ****...
  15. And this is a great video of the Tatra 603 (gorgeous car) re-edited... I don't think Jay Leno has reviewed his Tatra T87 on his own YouTube channel yet, but here is a glimpse of it. These in silver are just beautiful
  16. This needs to be watched for a bit of joking around... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaAf8Z75mTQ
  17. I'd give my right nut for one of the Tatra streamliners.
  18. Can I be Fran(k)?
  19. Nice vids man. Kildare is probably the best place around for variety. And with the rumours of more liners starting up it's going to get better. Mind you I wait till the sun comes out!

  21. Yes, while my four BLI diesels have been good (if hard to programme on DCC in their Blueline guise) this GS4 was a clunker when I got it. Sent it back to BLI and got it back 2 months later with a rather long list of fixes done. Now she runs like a champ. MTH do a GS4 too, but MTH have their own issues.
  22. Yep a class 20 was the loco used in the film. Done on a UK preserved line iirc.
  23. This has been all over the internet the past few days (almost as much as Bowie!) but hasn't popped up here yet. Owner of Rapido Trains builds a bit of a VIA coach in his basement. Will Paddy Murphy be building a Craven in his attic next?
