I've seen a railroad class 59 run on Bren's old layout and it seriously struggled with even just a few wagons. You just cant beat a proper all wheel drive set up with flywheels and a can motor so that's what I'll be going for. They run smooth and pull well.
  2. In Croke park at the moment and I saw the train roll past twice already, is it doing a Dublin circuit today?

They have little or no pulling power though, even when weighted.
  4. I have to agree Seamus, my favourite so far. If only I could afford a brass model of this baby... My current wallpaper on my laptop http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=398874&nseq=1
  5. Good to see, Kenny is going to be a tough act to follow considering his status at the club. Attracting big name players is still going to be the big problem though. If they do go down the sporting director road I hope whoever they appoint has an address book full of quality talent.
  6. Certainly looks like it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/30/liverpool-brendan-rodgers-swansea-city Must say I'm happy enough with that. Hope he is given the time to rebuild.

I have an Athearn SD9 chassis ready to go, might even transplant a kato motor in, should be fun...
  8. I noticed the handrails after I put the pics up Rich, and they do go into the doors on the model, schoolboy error! The flanges are very fine, I'm guessing it's to do with the design of the bogies and using scale sized wheels (as opposed to using small wheels like Hornby did on their 50)
  9. Maybe it's raining, but I would say they are a tad too long. On the real thing they were pretty prominent though http://glostransporthistory.visit-gloucestershire.co.uk/images/DP2%20Kings%20Cross.jpg
  10. Some pictures of the new Heljan DP2 Prototype diesel that arrived today (I have a thing for the one-off proto diesels!) Now these models have come in for a bit of criticism around the cab roof area, as supposedly the cab roof should taper inwards, something that the Heljan DP2 doesn't do. DP2 was essentially a class 50 prototype using a Deltic bodyshell. I can see what the critics mean, but have been unable to find my Bachmann Deltic to take a comparison shot. Still, it isn't a deal breaker for me though, and something I can live with. People have been championing the Bachmann Deltic recently compared to this, but the Bachmann Deltic is probably one of their weakest models. The nose shape looks a bit wrong to me, printed panel lines and horrid bogies. DP2 has no printed panel lines thankfully, and sits on its bogies beautifully; Overall I have to say I'm pretty happy with her, Heljan was even kind enough to send me two limited edition certs!
  11. It's a horror show Seamus, I'm hoping it will look like this eventually; http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=39219&nseq=7 Might start a thread on it, but there's a lot that needs doing to it!
  12. Stunning. Jeez Seamus three American train postings in one day. Is someone on the turn?
  13. You should see what I'm working on at the moment! The horror... Paint has since been stripped off, and some detail parts have been added, with more on the way. Going to take a lot of turd polish to turn this one around!
  14. Line-up of the four EMD units done so far outside the EMD factory. Four 071s lined up outside Inchicore in heritage schemes would be awesome. http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/0/3/0/8030.1338082142.jpg
  15. Two for the price of one, Reading ACe, absolutely gorgeous! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=398644&nseq=2 Erie SD70ACe, again very nice! http://www.railpictures.net/photo/398802/
  16. Buy one Bachmann Class 25, rip internals out. Transplant into APT power car, graft on bogie sideframes and Robert's your mothers brother! Well, it's what I plan to do anyway.
  17. A mate of mine has been shooting some vids in France recently, enjoy!
  18. Hell yeah! http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=398471&nseq=0
  19. Your shed is stunning, the ramshackle look and weathering is so spot on, well done! The silo aint half bad either!
  20. I'm pretty sure they weren't Anto, they just hauled them as normal coaching stock. I've seen pictures of 071s hauling them as normal coaching stock too.
  21. All 20 will be at a gathering in July. Looking forward to that! I think I have a new favourite, a model one of these might look good hauling my Walthers 20th Century limited, mind you I do like my NYC E7s! It's funny, on the boxes of the 20th Century Limited Walthers attribute the trademark of the NYC to CSX, so obviously both CSX and Norfolk Southern both own the trademark after they took over Conrail. Guessing CSX had no grounds to object!
  22. Looks like a load of Taurus locomotives are getting painted in special liveries for the Euro 2012 festivities in Polkraine. Here is the Czech loco http://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/foto_news_opis/32192/c07571892af9f99745722dc48b0f12fb_d.jpg Will be interesting to see the Irish one, will we see them on layouts pulling Cravens around? Gotta love the Taurus, very musical loco
  23. And here she is, BOOM! http://railpictures.net/photo/398385
  24. Looking forward to it Dave, will have to buy myself a nice crimbo present at it.
  25. Looks like not all players are at the Bridge, 'Nando hasn't looked happy since he signed tbh. http://www.thescore.ie/fernando-torres-tells-as-im-not-comfortable-at-chelsea-457609-May2012/
