  1. Would it be seriously bitchy of me to say that the side grill looks a little heavy? Fans look good though!
  2. Just back from Pearse after waiting on the arrival of the 071 hauled RPSI 171 for 171 tour. Just about to edit a video and put it up on Youtube, but here are some pics first. 079 did the honours... After dropping the passengers off 079 hauled the Cravens into a loop and 231 showed up to haul them back to Inchicore A couple more pics while I was there... ICR on its way to Rosslare And the continued destruction of lovely old Pearse... Will post video when it's ready!
  3. Nothing wrong with getting a bit of help, sure I get it all the time, especially when it comes to painting! If you have the extra space, go for it!
  4. No problem, hope you get your workbench thread going, your skills are getting better and better, great to see a youngfella like yourself interested in the hobby!
  5. It's back up again with limited functionality.
  6. Once you pass a certain amount of posts (five I think) you go from junior member to member.
  7. Software patches/upgrade. Updates are on their twitter page https://twitter.com/#!/search/rmweb
  8. Looking forward to it!
  9. Some great pics there, thanks for sharing! CIE trucks always interested me, they always seemed ancient and decrepit compared to other private fleets back in the '80s and '90s. Do you know of any pics of Essie at work hauling a load? Would be interested to see what sort of loads she hauled about when called upon.
  10. Speaking of 071 screaming at full pelt is anyone on the RPSI jaunt tomorrow? Can't make it myself but might head out for a video if the weather's good.
  11. If it's anything like the HO one it would need some serious work. The Genesis one is shaping up well luckily... http://www.athearn.com/Content/Images/Home/glamour/DDA-40X-Centennial.jpg
  12. Yep, 6936 does, but I prefer freight myself!
  13. I dunno mate, Athearn were able to use the chassis off this under the standard Turbine and the U50 diesels too, but the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I would defo have to get one, and fit that with sound too. Still contemplating a Genesis DDA40X when they come out. Expensive, with two motors and two sound chips, but awesome locos! Trouble is they usually ran in pairs with a SD40-2, so I'd have to buy two! [video=youtube;AcPk5DCw6-g]
  14. A few more pics... And some video footage on A4Mallard's old layout. We couldn't run it with the tender due to clearance issues with the tunnels. The turbines had a small diesel engine which was used for shunting and tootling around depots which you hear first before the turbine kicks in. It runs, looks and sounds fantastic!
  15. Just a few pictures of my Athearn RTR Veranda Gas Turbine. I have to say it's one sweet model, and I picked it up in Brooklyn a couple of years ago for a really good price for what you get. Nice box, if you're into that sort of thing... It came without sound, and while I'm still unsure if I like sound fitted models or not, I thought this would be one that would need sound. I got this great QSI sound kit from Ulrich Models http://www.ulrichmodels.biz/servlet/the-589/Athearn-Veranda-Turbine-QSI/Detail which came set up with dual speakers all wired up and ready to plant in. It was a bit of a squeeze to get everything in but I managed to do it with a bit of fettling. I took some photos of the installation but I can't find my hard drive at the moment! When I find it I'll stick up the pics.
  16. I'd much rather a proper professional weathering job with subtle details rather than the generic spray factory weathered models get, but each to their own.
  17. Another day, another heritage livery, Interstate GEVO http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=395522&nseq=1
  18. He has plenty of personalities to keep him company over there for a while! Absolutely superb work David, you can be proud of the way they're shaping up. I think I'll have to stretch the funds for some of these.
  19. I took these at the 201 launch night at the South Dublin club. Good night it was too. [video=youtube;v-gCqPohfNk] And a quick look at the functions on a 201 with the Murphys DCC Chip in it.
  20. When I get a minute to scratch my arse I'll be up, will organise something over the next couple of weeks!
  21. The RPSI ran the 'Spare Link' railtour last month from Dublin to Wexford and back which took in the Howth branch on the Sunday. This saw steam return to the branch for the first time in many years and a 201 class diesel making a rare appearance on the line. Here's a photo of 217 at Sutton Station on the RPSI rake of cravens. You can see 461 in the background reversing back to Connolly. And a video of both 461 and 217 in action... Enjoy!
  22. It is, I'm all for wheelchair access etc but they could at least make the new structures look a bit better and allow them to match their surroundings!
  23. There is of course the permanent way depot in Kildare, which played host to a few track machines and on track plant while I was there. I think this is the newish MPV which will replace the weedspraying train? Sorry it's only a glimpse, more information would be great! While I was there I captured the more interesting stuff on video. Cue on track plant, liners and 201s on Dublin Cork services. Might make another trip next week to get the additional liners and hopefully some 071s working hard.
  24. I spent a morning in Kildare station a couple of weeks ago where a hideous new bridge is under construction. I took some pics of the ICRs while there. They might not be everyone's cup of tea (mine included!) but they are the future. Here's some pics which might be of use to some! Classic period postbox
