  1. Coming to a smyths Toys superstores near you!
  2. Id love if the lima 201s were still floating around for a cheap entry point into irish modeling. A bit like a hornby railroad option!
  3. Yea i think interchangable sections of some sort would be great for a potential design but if not the main (not including the single one) ones are... Standered double track like the ones on the limerick waterford line A big multiplatform one simular to the clonakilty junction one but this goes for any major station The other one is the triple track bridge. I think these are seen at Crossbarry and Tiperary town.
  4. The one thing I will add is that the come in all different shapes and sizes! Clonakilty juction had one spanning 3 platforms and 4 tracks! This one at tipperary has the stairs orientated in different directions potential designs for adding a centre section extra and being able to rotate the stairs as mentioned earlier might be beneficial (it would have to be divided into preices due to restricted printer size ect)
  5. And....with only a few small things like using spare SSM transfers to make decals, fixing the buffer ect. GSWR Number 33 is complete. As far as i know this engines last hurrah was working the Clonakilty branchline loosing the Macroom line to its closure and the Cobh line to the introduction of diesal railcars.
  6. I think i saw footage of 560 crossing the city railway with her plates on. 552 and 559 were the regulars in the later days but i think 560, 551, 553 and 557 have been on the line if not more!
  7. This loco will almost certainly be 552 or if not 559. Which both had the later decals on them in the later days of courtmacsherry work. Which suits the rest of the loco fleet which have the same style of numbering
  8. Actually.....black and tan looks pretty superb on CC1.....I'm pleasantly suprised!
  9. Ids say what well want is the newer painted numbers despite how relitivally short they were kept. The connecting rods do stand out a bit alright....i must tell him that Yeah the smoke box door is a bit plain, itll only take 2 or 4 little strips to spruce it ip I must say the way he has approached is promising for younger and more inexperienced modelers like myself who work in a more "awkward" era then the supertrain days and beyond! Steam locos only need to look "recodnisable" for us 2 anyway
  10. Now that we have a goof idea how to make the cab, we could make 201 aswell but as we have a 2-4-2 chassis we will finish the 33 class curvy bits or not!
  11. While my own layout has since been "halted" more work has commenced on my other west cork maniac's locos. the class 33. Has taken shape with a heavily modified smokebox, and on cab side installed (using a picture and microsoft office lense we figured it out) . Also the coal bunker has been modified so it only needs another cab side and making the water tanks a little higher (he might not try to put to notches in the running board as is prototypical) In the third picture is....a slightly modified j72 to make a j26! With a fee transfers and maybe a bit of weathering i think while being a bit long admittedly it will pass....it goes to shoe that with little experience and relitivally low budget. An few irish steam locos aren't impossible.....i must say fair play to him its not easy modeling in west cork!
  12. I would imagine a silver/green C class would look obscure next to black steam engines almost twice as small! The two J30s, 552, Mologa and argadeen are beutiful little locos......slaney can wait as it was withdrawn very early if memory serves
  13. Brilliant stuff this 3d printing. Ive a long list of engines id like to try 3d printing it as does plenty of others I reckon! Number 90 has already been tried and succeded....BCDR tank will be wonderful to see too
  14. The J26, J30 and the origional trio of tank engines are what i think of when i think of courtmacsherry. C Class was a monster compared to the steamers on the line. The only other major change in line working from CIE to GSR days was the regular passenger services which were suspended
  15. Right now seeing one steam loco on a layout is rare.....nevermind full pre 1945 layouts!
  16. Within realisim, I think its fair to assume we will be seeing a C class soon enough. Maybe even the next loco release in a few years especially with that long working life that appeals to a lot of modelers...which is great to see Its also fair to see that people want full sets of coaching stock from mark 3s, mark 4s and the enterprise sets. Personally id be excited for the mark 4 EGV, just love the look of them. But personally it would make sense to release laminates and/or park royals first (for me they would be priority after the A class release but thats just me) As for the freight models, the brakevan almost ran away with it witch is is great as thats being developed by JM design RTR as we speak! Amonia wagons being the next big freight item. I think we will have to wait to see those come out but who knows.. Re-runs not surprising that its a tie between the 141/181 and the 071....interesting that i never noticed before but the pole option is just an 071 in grey! Never mind the rest of the liveries so 071s in general would probobly be the favurite for re runs (shame as i could do with a few Black and Tan 141s) However if the pole used Proportional voting (people choose the favourite to least favourite in terms of preference) the pole would be more helpful to figuring out what to release next....but to be fair this pole does a great job at showing peoples favurites! It is interesting. I think a GNR engine like merlin would have been an interesting spanner to throw into the mix but you can't fit them all...
  17. Hypothetically the entire survey could be answered with "all if the above"
  18. And could be really handy even to IRM. Cant wait to see what people are choosing...(i assume a lot of people wanting re runs of the 141s and 071s)
  19. Ids say what we should be getting modeled in the next 15 years is green stuff whether that be flying snail from the 60s or Iranroid eireann stuff from 2006-now. We already have the murphy models grey 121 and the A class on the way. The intercity 201 and the 2800 DMU from chris dier are from the current era. Both can be expanded upon The C class and the laminates had long working lives and have a lot of era's under there belt which is an advantage to them being produced. (I would wait for a post laminate world to then experiment with steam) As for the new stuff as previously suggested the full mark 4 set for the intercity 201 would be gorgeous and new enough for whippersnappers like myself to get them. ICR as a train set getting younger modelers (while a steam loco train set would be....godly!, train sets are for people starting out hence ICR's suit nicely)
  20. I would pre order them now! .....Ill take 2....or more
  21. I think the C class and the Aec railcars will need to be released to cement the justification the coaching stock of that era. (And aec railcars offer GNR stuff which would be apericiated as limited edition) then a steam loco could feasibly be produced....i think I'm not an expert.....and what i just said would take years of long term development and its a business at the end of the day and demand is the only way to supply especially in our market
  22. hence why 800 class is the only non RPSI loco that could be considered as they are in a class of there own. (As unlikely as it is, maybe she will steam again). We have 2 beutiful new deisals locos either just released or about too to suffice for the time being!
  23. Well done Lads im sure all the time and effort put in will be well worth it in the end! Commercially it makes sense to do some of the deisals first seeing as diesal men dominate the irish market. It is a buisness at the end of the day and evidently there are people against the idea as per lack of rolling stock and not fitting layouts. (Shame because i think an A class will be arriving at ballinhassig soon which only happened twice ever!) Regardless were lucky that modelers in quite a wide veriety of eras (present era-50s thanks to all our manufacturers) as I am so new to the hobby it took me a while to figure out what modles can be bought, i remember they day i figured out buying a bandon tank model was "possible" and being over the moon regardless of it being a kit i couldnt finish if i tried! I hope one day anyway we see steam become commercially viable, I might be West Cork at heart but RTR stream is too good to turn down!
  24. If it gets enough responses it could be a genuinely useful survey that also may settle some debates
