  1. Most of the radials were built by either Breyer peacock or Dübs, 2 loco builders that dominated the west cork scene for a long time. I think the wheel arrangement, design and everything about it has made it a classic base for Irish prototypes. Maybe J15,GSR 800, no.4 and merlin have there english look alikes, you you can make a radial into anything with a bit of imagination
  2. Fantastic model, ids say hauling it down the Dugort line did some damage, but with all the rumours of closure to the line, it’s as if the lads from kingbridge don’t Care!
  3. A good next step would be scratch building a small peice onto an existing model…..say extending the water tank on an Adams radial…..
  4. Yep, cmon Inchicore give us all wierd livery/loco combos like Black and Tan 071, Galway A class…. Only enough I think one of the RPSI 141s (just one end) was temporarily put in IE Gray before, must find that picture
  5. One down, one to go on these 2ft rule CIE laminate (mk1) coaches. Funny as these coaches including the price of producing one of these coaches works out to be about 20 euro! Enough to temp any rough and ready modellers out there
  6. Holy sh*t that looks rough….imagine being the first person on site and having to inform inform the bossman
  7. I was thinking that. Anyone with those old conversions can get busy! same if anyone wants a “Galway livery” A class
  8. Blue and Creme 4ks and flying snail ICRs, would never happen because it would look confusing to the millennial train user but still Or this livery as I said on the Duggan port layout thread, the two liveries really do share the same aesthetic. Only issue is I think IE like liveries similar to there own on the mainline (I remember IR did not want the RPSI to use black n tan on there mk2 as it looked to similar to the livery at that time) or something along those lines but we’re lucky to have A39R going as it is, never mind getting A3r so we will happily accept black n tan!
  9. AEC railcar set with 2 intermediate coaches via Lima mark 1 coaches. The plan was have both these coaches turned out on post 1956 CIE green (similar to my kind off 1906 rosslare stock) but they do colour match really well with the railcars! IMG_1046.MOV At 13 pounds a pop I suppose I can’t go wrong either way
  10. In its current guise, you might aswell pair it with 080 for a nice match
  11. A 121 got this livery before an 201 im sure some regard that as a joke although I’m not sure I like it as much on the 201 https://www.flickr.com/photos/northernblue109/12975381494/in/album-72157636435273666/
  12. I can garuntee it won’t be going back into IE service! im not sure why they HAD to do it but I’m glad they did
  13. Maybe RPSI mk2 coaches? I’m not aware if there is a specific coach needed for trials on IE trials
  14. Trial runnings on the mainline it will be put onto original 1961 spec grey and yellow once trials are completed This livery has put a massive smile on my face I won’t lie
  15. I won’t lie when I saw it on my Facebook feed, I thaught it was fake
  16. there is already a reason to re-run the 121s. What a fantastic looking livery on the locomotive this has to go as one of the most obscure but fantastic livery combos in Irish rail history
  17. Of course the 201 named after the river in West Cork has been withdrawn with years
  18. Plenty of those board game workshops around cork city. Handy if it came in a spray can. I might aswell try extend the water tanks and if that doesn’t work I’ll figure something else out
  19. I once again bring on northernblue109s Flickr….I just saw he put up A class in BR black and BR green https://www.flickr.com/photos/northernblue109/ Obviously looks handsome, but it also looks very long versus what are used too!
  20. I always wondered about those splashers. They take up half about the door, nasty drop for anyone who takes a mistep At least they had a nice colour interior
  21. Adams radial arived today and I face a choice. I don’t think I want to loose the nice finish on the southern black (see the finish on my plastic coaches for what new black would be like) and the black looks “enough” like CIE black to pass off. But at the same time, while the boiler and cab get a pass from me, the water tanks and the exposed Splashers giving me a slight pet peeve as “not very prototypical” again this could easily be passed as just another version that dübs made in the 1880s. but for the time being, I don’t know about it.
  22. that was some going, never mind going 105MPH, you would not catch many in the cab today. I don’t see myself hopping into the cab of a mk4 Dvt Dublin bound! Ahh that’s the good old S&S for ya. To be fair if you tried to travel between schull and skibbereen in 2021, the pot holes would have you sick out the window
  23. Am I wierd for thinking of this livery every time I see this livery
  24. And never say never to the Cork & Macroom Direct Railway inspection car the only thing I’d add if your getting a silverfox Hunslet is that you might have to wait a year for RTR as Irish stuff is only made done in October of every year if I’m not mistaken it does line up well with the anticipated mk2 coach release date as well me thinks
  25. Indeed they do. I think anyone anticipating the NIR MK2s if they done already should consider picking up a Silverfox NIR 101. They look the best out of the box and if you do modify it/just build it from scratch. You could do a worthwhile job of a model that likely won’t be offered for Yonks if at all in RTR otherwise!
