I got a SSM CIE brake van brass kit there too. Can't wait to get a brake van on the end of my rakes.

Leslie I hope you have a happy and well deserved retirement, I've only bought a small number of wagons off you recently but they are treasured.

Thanks @MOGUL lovely image and info. I'm interested in any CPWs on Irish rails. @MOGUL in your photo the CPW looks more yellow than grey. What original colours were they painted in on Irish rails? If yellow they remind me of the US TTX well cars that I am currently building from an Athearn kit that I run with my US outline collection. -
A lovely man. May he rest in peace.

I suppose the 40' and 2x20' Bells would fit and be Irish, stereotypical for DFDS or not. -

This is probably the post you're referring to DJ: @MOGUL makes an important point that the dapol CPWs won't fit 45' containers. Are there 40' Irish containers that would suit? -

Would they be a very niche model to ever be viable for someone like IRM? -
I'm wondering is there nny OO models available of DFDS Container Pocket Wagons? Probably not RTR. I'm a fan of US well container cars so would love an Irish version. Would this dapol RTR model be a close fit? Once repainted . Dapol OO Gauge B779D KQA KTA ‘Pocket’ Container Wagon GERS 4907 017-4

Would love one, maybe two for re numbering

That's ri-donkey-lous detail. I love it.

That was my experience, very happy overall. As far as I understand it when getting things delivered to Rep. of Ireland you either buy from within the EU (like a German site) and pay EU VAT. Or you buy from a UK site and pay no UK VAT but do pay Irish EU VAT plus a An Post handling charge. All charges I paid to An Post to receive in Cork. Customs Value: Import Duty: Excise Duty: VAT: An Post Fee: Total paid: Date paid: € 36.02 € 0.00 € 0.00 € 8.26 € 4.95 € 13.21 20/10/2024

The Eagle has Landed! Worth waiting for. Great runners. (If anyone is ever selling one lighting pack I'd love to buy it!) 20241022_213306.mp4

Got my notification of despatch too. Much relief, can't wait to run them on the layout.
-
Did they notify you beforehand that they were in the post or did the package just show up?
-
Thanks Fowler, order placed.

Thanks for all this info Jhb. As a follow on question: I am planning on running this b'n't 6 wheel brake van at the end of a train of b'n't MM cravens and b'n't IRM Park Royals pulled by a silver or b'n't CIE roundel diesel A class. Sometimes also pulled but a IR livery 121. Would this be close enough to prototypical? And as my layout is a dead end branch line, once the loco does a run around to the other end of the carriages for the return journey should the 6 wheel brake be run around to the new back end of the train as well? Many thanks
-
What would you run the b'n't coach with? Craven's? Not any of the other dark or light green 6 wheelers I presume?

Just got my invoice after sending a polite reminder email. The total I was charged came out at £10 dearer than Hattons original prices, which is fine. However the invoice didn't mention VAT at any stage so I guess I'll have to assume it was not charged and An Post will add EU VAT onto the total?

To quote Monty Python - You lucky lucky duck

I assumed Rails were fulfilling the lighting packs order as well. Can anyone confirm either way? Has anyone gotten a Rails of Sheffield order posted to the republic recently? Do Rails subtract the UK VAT and then An Post charges the EU VAT plus their handling fee?
