  1. 2607+2608 arrives at the branch platform with a connecting service for the MK 4 set, 0117072 departs from the up main road hauling the Sperry wagon on its annual inspection of the layout, 216 propels the MK 4 set out of the platform making some noise as it departs, The crew of 071 take a well deserved break as it works the bogie spoil wagons. Both 216 and 072 have been fitted with Mr Sound-guys Real Drive sound chip which really make a difference.
  2. Any update lads??
  3. Thanks for the update...
  4. Yes please- I'll take two.....
  5. Another excellent choice and the order has duly been placed... You might consider this livery version at some stage, I am sure it would be a winner.... (Copyright acknowledged to D.Hall)
  6. And very soon you will be able to enjoy this view from the comfort of the train-there will be no need to walk up or down that road.....
  7. Correct the view is not as good as the opposite side- at that particular location the bushes were removed to examine the culvert which was uncovered by us earlier in the year and found to be in excellent condition- the remainder of the trees on that side will be left in situ. When we first visited the site a few years ago we were unable to see the former line towards Galway as it was heavily overgrown and it did need some amount of clearance and we are all delighted with the results This is the view now....
  8. Life at the junction just keeps on getting better and better.....thanks to IRM...... Having deposited the Sperry wagon into the permanent way sidings locomotive 0117072 shunted the weed spray coach 3187 into its normal formation with the water tank and storage container wagons.....and then its maiden voyage around the layout......
  9. Another package arrived....and was immediately put into service well done yet again gentlemen......
  10. The Mousa models overlay is only suitable for the current RPSI 3173 gen van or the CIE/IR 3171-3175 series gen vans, which have the Guards compartment at one end only, The weed spray coach 3187 had the Guards compartment located in the centre of the coach so the only option would be to alter a Bachmann BR MK1 BG brake coach to suit.
  11. The Sperry train visited Tara junction a few days ago hauled by locomotive 0117072, it is seen here departing from the station and observing the required 30 mph speed restriction while recording-(the real Sperry train visited the Ballina branch line last week as can be seen in the last photo for comparison.)
  12. Another intensive day of work took place at Maam cross yesterday, many thanks to the volunteers from near and far who put in such a fantastic performance, Level crossing gates and gate posts were put into position alongside the main R336 Maam to Maam cross road The buffer stop on the standard gauge track had its timber block replaced as the original timber had decayed and was life expired. Vegetation clearance took place at the Galway end of the station where the Cutting crew from Cork done a superb job in opening out a long lost culvert, Temporary track was laid into the shed, this will allow for the safe storage of a locomotive and rolling stock Vegetation clearance was undertaken along side the boundary fence and level crossing gates on the R336 road-improving the view and increasing the awareness of the project for passing motorists. A selection of photos from yesterday....
  13. Subject to the COVID restrictions being eased, an announcement will be made regarding a date for an open day, Please keep following this thread for updates...
  14. Richie will sort you out with this.....
  15. May be of some help to you....
  16. Yes Martin, they are identical to the ones that IR & IE operated in freight yards around the country during the 1990s & 2000s
  17. Well done yet again the high standards continue and a pack has been duly ordered, I would have liked to see the spray coach 3187 form part of the set but I fully understand the reasoning behind your decision as you have quite rightly pointed out above, The Silver fox model with some minor modifications and weathering is an ideal companion for this set. Thank you IRM.
  18. A photo of the rear of the weed spray train with the container painted yellow on 30190-train is being hauled by locomotive 083
  19. Empty Guinness kegs are loaded on to the liner train at the Lakeview rail freight depot in synchronized harmony by the experienced forklift drivers.

  22. A Saturday afternoon of some passenger train action on Tara junction involving some Cravens, Mk2, Mk2 A/B and Mk3 push pull rolling stock and 071, 201 2x141/181s locomotives. Thanks to a good friend who was in charge of operations as I took the video from a different angle and to our dog who wanted to chase the Mk2 A/B set....
  23. A night time scene on Tara junction as retro 071 passes hauling the bogie spoil wagons to Gorey and 0117072 passes hauling the empty bogie timber train to Westport.
