  1. Not gonna happen jhb....more chance of getting a 2600 railcar into original Arrow livery and locomotive 234 repainted into its original as delivered livery....
  2. 073 had been stopped after failing while working the IWT liner from Ballina and ended up being next in line for the body work overhaul and repaint, It had been initially suggested to the IE CME that 088 would be receive the IR livery to compliment 071 e.g.first and last locomotives but the decision was left to the CME, None of us minded so long as we got an 071 repainted into the IR livery.... and the rest is history......
  3. Late night/early morning arrival of the Guinness liner at the Lakeview rail freight yard-The 2x181s were uncoupled immediately after arrival and went to the MPD for servicing.
  4. Retro liveried locomotives 071 & 073 .

  6. Fantastic looking models...the black and tan locomotives look tempting now.....they weren't part of the overall plan....

  15. Regular updates are given on this page along with various Facebook Irish railways pages, We are also fortunate to have two members who contribute to and have contacts with some of the leading UK railway magazines, with one magazine in particular doing an article during the early days of the project. A well known Irish radio & TV personality recently paid a visit to the site and was impressed with what he has seen so far and will give the project a mention on his return to the airwaves next month.
  16. They are well worth it.....and are ideal for the 1990s/2000 era on Irish rail...
  17. As they say ''Rome wasn't built in a day'',thanks for the kind donation Kevin, Jim is fortunate in that he has a reliable volunteer base from various backgrounds including railway operations, engineers, accountants, fitters etc who are all keen and driven to see this come to fruition

  19. The unique one of its kind MDS 25 school bus gets a run out of the depot after receiving attention in the garage......
  20. A bundle of joy arrived at Tara junction.....thank you IRM......
  21. Another bundle of joy arrived last week, and another big congratulations are in order to the lads at IRM. A selection of photographs taken earlier at a busy Lakeview rail freight yard sees retro liveried locomotive 071 arrive from the MPD after refueling to work the bogie spoil train consisting of spent ballast from the recently extended freight yard and some life expired concrete sleepers, The fourth photo shows the interior of the cement/fertilizer store which has been fitted with interior lighting-it has really added to the scene, Forklifts LV1 and LV2 are busy loading cement and Guinness kegs while the bulk cement bubbles are unloaded, Pictures speak louder than words.....enjoy....
  22. The site owner is funding the project to date, but there is a gofundme page set up for anyone who wishes to donate to the project, see the link on the first page.
  23. A new designated timber loading area was marked out at the west end of the Lakeview rail freight yard, Here are a selection of photos of the gradual stockpiling of logs to the stack When the timber train has been 'loaded' the area can be moved out of the way-its a movable diorama.....!!!! The timber contractor has recently taken delivery of a brand new 202 registered Scania tractor unit which is well fit to haul the heavy timber log loads
  24. Another productive day yesterday at Maam cross, An articulated truck load of railway equipment arrived at the site and was promptly unloaded, With the assistance of two machines we put into position a base for the crane on the goods loading bank, this crane originated in Barrack street goods yard in Dundalk, A new pit had been previously excavated and this was lined with timber sleepers-but not finished yet,it will be used for under frame examinations of visiting locomotives Level crossing gates were given another coat of paint, they will be put into position in a few weeks time. The lever frame and a ground frame was moved to safe storage this lever frame was formally located in Carlow signal cabin A buffer stop was moved into position at the Galway end of the goods loading bank, this can been seen in the sixth photo Finally we ''planted'' a telegraph pole near to where the West signal cabin will be located-this in time will have working phone and ETS lines attached to it and others,it was previously located between Broadstone and Liffey junction.. A selection of photos from yesterday....
