Hi LE, Lets just say there will be something coming to the line soon that hasn't been in operation since its closure 85 years ago......keep watching here for updates. -
https://www.connemararailway.ie/ More progress yesterday with the temporary narrow gauge tracks being laid towards the Galway city direction, Exciting times ahead when after the open day (TBC) the standard 5' 3'' track will replace the temporary narrow gauge and will permit the use of former MGWR and CIE rolling stock to be used at this scenic location. There is a go fund me page in the link if you would wish to donate to this worthy cause. A few photos from relaying operations over the last few weeks

I had expected that announcement at some stage, Its no harm, although I have enjoyed my previous visits I can now put the money to good use supporting the lads at IRM and a certain Mr Murphy, See you in 2021....

Dave ,they are the nearest type of wagon to the Irish rail version, I have seven and with some minor alterations they are fine, The stauntions need to be painted at the top and moved to accommodate five bays of timber, which can be easily done,I also added ladders to the ends and steps, The wagons need to be toned down to a brownish colour rather than the red livery on these but are excellent runners, I am working on some timber loads as the ones that are supplied don t really look the part, hence why my rake always have operated empty so far.

If all goes to plan then I better prepare for some extra Guinness liners to operate next weekend....

190+184 hauling the Platin-Lakeview bogie bulk cement train through Tara junction station and later after arrival there pilot locomotive 181 shunts the wagons into position for unloading
-
No longer required as the line is currently not in use, and probably in safe storage.

Weekend engineering works taking place at the Lakeview freight yard has produced some permanent way department trains, 0117078 is seen here passing through Tara junction station returning from the worksite with some old track panels and the Donelli gantry while going in the opposite direction is the laden two axle ballast hopper train being hauled by locomotive 161.

Thanks Rich

Thanks Jason, yes a different angle for a change...
-
6101 leading the Mk 3 push pull set is seen here passing at speed through Tara junction station on the up fast line being propelled by 220 as the Enterprise awaits its departure time.
-
Lovely work Raymond, look forward to seeing some locomotives arriving on site, well done so far.

I know...I know....its nearly the middle of June but a recent arrival at Ashburton grove is the ''Snow Queen'' snow plough, it is seen here in the loop while being propelled by 37 251, It was being transferred from Doncaster for storage at the MPD.

One of the finest and most detailed RTR models I have ever seen, the detail on the bogies alone is superb, looking forward to the Supertrain and IR versions. Well done gentlemen.

Superb modelling Jason

When locomotive 187 failed with a burst water pipe on the platform at Tara junction locomotives 190+184 were taken off the branch train and used to assist the failed liner, This provided the rare sight of a triple headed liner train.....
-
187 uses the avoiding line to overtake the MK3 push pull set as it hauls the combined Guinness/ cement liner trough Tara junction as 203 passes with the CPWs.
-
Thanks popeye, yes it sure is virus free....

So, six years on from the start of this thread we finally have sight of the 121 class locomotives, I certainly am delighted that they did make it into production and Paddy Murphy must be highly commended for his perseverance with the project through difficult times, Thank you Paddy for producing such an iconic Irish locomotive, 2020 for me will be one of the best years for Irish railway modelling and again thank you to the lads at IRM for continuing on producing such fine rolling stock to compliment all the Irish locomotives, roll on the 001 class.....
