  1. Looking forward to seeing these progress Eamonn, plenty of work to keep you busy during the long winter nights ahead.
  2. Stunning work
  3. Bachmann cl 66 chassis all the way, im currently modifying one for my 209. I ve done 4 conversions in the past and im happy with all of them. First to admit i got a cracking good bargain on the 66& even better when i sold the box with the body . Another option is a modeltorque unit which can be got secondhand.
  4. Rebelred i may have one in the spares box. Putting it simply there is no comparison, the later mm 201 is way better excellent running, more power than the lima and more controllable. The lima ones can be gti'd on dcc but the wheels, mechanism and the detail on the loco will always let it down incidently Gerry Byrne of this parish done a very good article on dcc conversion including sound on the lima 201 in model rail a few years back. My lima 201 never ran well and is destined to be a shed dweller on my layout.
  5. Door is finished
  6. Thanks Eamonn, Agree 072 has been a fvourite of mine since the late 80:s when i saw her for the first time. Luckily i see her regularly on the tmber and container runs in waterfordso i just had to model her in her current guise warts & all . The door is coming along nicely and i should have pics up later tonight or in the morning.
  7. Drop us a pm with your email address and i ll send you on a few .
  8. The doors and frames on 072/112 are from 141/181's as far as i know . For the door on the model i ll be taking measurement of one of my IE 141's and then using them to mask off the different colours, as for the white stripes i ll be using decals.
  9. Thanks Noel, that ll come in handy. The bogies will definetly be on the to do list.
  10. Day booked off and camera at the ready , great to see any movement on the line.
  11. Thanks for the comments lads, just finished off 072 using pics taken of the big 072 during its visit with the weedsprayer a few weeks back, i added a little extra to the body as well as the decals which are ssm products. I will be adding the orange door in the near futurebut for now shes done .
  12. The line is still there but its only in use for engineers trains such as weedsprayer and inspection vechicles, some bits were taken but not feom the permanent way.
  13. Next up on the bench is a renumbering off a murphy models 071, i removed the factory applied number with qtips dipped in white spirits, i gently rubbed each of the sets of numbers and after a few minutes they came off nicely. I then brushed on some klear to help with the decals after i leave it dry over night. The loco is destined to be the resident wedsprayer loco so i ll also be adding glendergs weedspray warning panels and will be numbered 072 using SSM decals
  14. It took a while but shes finished , started out as a cheap & nasty ebay purchase. But im now quite pleased with her. A few baths in brake fluid sorted out the various old liveries, followed by a few sanding and filling sessions, i then backdated the body for the early days of the c class. I then added a ssm detail kit and painted her with a few light coats of paint, decals are by ssm and after a final coat of klear she was ready for her pic to be taken.
  15. Georgeconna built one alright, it was on the old site. Scalahanes is pretty sweet though. Must get moving on my one
  16. Cut back to 32mm
  17. Ah noooooooooo!!!! Been beavering away during the week building up the rake. Will be taking 4mm off each end off the three completed ones and the mir flat. Many thanks for the info lads much appreiciated. For what its worth heres the three.
  18. Keep an eye on the exchange rate as well, a few years back 141/181's could be got for €80 as the euro was near equal to sterling. Sign up for Rails or other retailers sites as they do offers on stock from time to time. Off course keep an eye out for lads selling stock here . As for the 071/111's they are excellent models along with the rest of the range.
  19. Excellent work 33 looking forward to seeing this develop.
  20. Bogie centre point to the inside of the bufferbeam is 36mm. Used an mir 47ft as the basis for my drawing/model .
  21. Found a few old hornby freightliner wagon chassis which i had shortened to use for timber wagons a few years back. Un fortunately i messed up the scale so i ended up with a few disasters. The bodies are now consigned to the scrap box but i thought it d be an ideal opportunity to experiment with the chassis, honestlt my first thoughts were use them for a weedspray rake but with the new ssm kits due out soon , i thought it d make more sense to see if i could build some 47fts instead. Luckily i still have some mir spare bogies lying around so hey its worth a shot!!. Luckily when shortening the chassis i kept the cut out bit so i used bits of this to add length to the chassis, i used an mir 47ft to make sure the bogies spacing was right. After a few hours work this is what emerged
  22. Looking to upgrade the old kitbuilt ones, if anyone has any spare orange ones available :-)
  23. Found an mir price list from 2010. Missing the loco price list, you wouldn t have one to hand Mr Wrenneire
  24. Thats some production line there Kirley, quality work all the way. Love to mir kits still being built and especially with the results your acheiving. Look forward to seeing the next project.
