  1. Finally got near my pressies from Santy, 077 in orange /black & a few bob towards the ammonias.
  2. Happy christmas lads and all the very best for 2015.
  3. Nice job Martin, looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.
  4. Nice one for the comments lads, the orange ones would be nice but they wouldn t fit in with the era 3 left to repaint, replaced a few axles and added a few top hat bearings so they re all running a little too well now!!!. In fairness to the original builder he done a pretty good job with the builds but i wanted to tweak them a little to ensure very good running. Many thanks to Redrich for the pics that he posted up in the Prototype section, they came in nice and handy for the detailing bits.
  5. Excellent news des looking forward to them
  6. Happy birthday Richie
  7. Slowly working my way through the bubbles, a lot of work to be done to each of them but i'm enjoying every minute of it . I raided the spares box for a load of bachmann slimline couplings which i fitted to each of the wagons using a 071 coupling to ensure the height was right, after testing the full rake behind an 071i startedwork on the bodies which required a lot of filling and sanding, luckily i had a tin of phoenix paints mir ivory paint to hand. I then proceeded to paint all the bubbles which was completed last night. I ve now started on the chassis 's. I'm still unsure about the decals etc but will probably go with the railtec option.
  8. Hmmm temptation Concentrating on stock for the foreseeable future....... Well thats the plan anyway
  9. Has to be done , no more new locos till the 121's come out !!!
  10. Generally i agree about the new motors but id generally do an annual examination of the mechanisms etc. The 071/201's haven t had much need for maintence but the 141/181's are starting to need a little bit more work. ANY secondhand purchases always get a full check up when they arrive whereas the new from the shop get only a good run in. All 50 plus locos run excellently now, even the a class is behaving itself . Surprisingly the bachmann cl 66 chassis under the kitbuilt 201's are still out performing the mm 201's. The athearns are still as noisy as ever !!!!
  11. Theres quite a few videos on you tube etc on the how too's, the bogies on the 141/181unclip with gentle persuasion with a screwdriver at either end of the bogies. Once inside clear any hair/residue from the gears and wheel areas.
  12. Nice job Eamonn
  13. In the middle of servicing my lot , the murphy locos like all locos need a good run in when new and after a service as well. Generally i give the wheels a good clean, i also clear any debris that may be near the pick ups. I also take the bogie covers off and aply a small bit if oil (peco lube). I also give the body a good clean and finally put the loco back together and test run the loco for 30 mins in each direction.
  14. Theres a pic of one in the Great Southern Railway book that came out a few years back.
  15. Theres always a slighly shortened athearn sd 9 chassis or take the bogies, drive shafts and motor out of a bachmann cl 55 and build a new chassis.
  16. Excellent job on the caf's Kieran, this thread is full of quality modelling well done sir
  17. There was an IR livery one for sale on a different site.
  18. What livery are you looking for?
  19. They sell the silverfox resin body kits
  20. The rtr ones are pretty expensive especially with the euro/sterling exchange rate, plus it could be a while before the order would be ready to send. Have to agree with the lads the fastest way is to get the kit and add the ssm detail pack. Or put an ad in the wanted section in case any if the lads have a spare one.
  21. I ve pics of the gsprs rake of coaches that were stored at Rathpeacon in the early 1990's if its any use to you Kieran.
  22. Not quite there was a batch of the Ammonias running in the uk, the wagons were owned by sts and were scrapped a few years ago.
  23. Been looking for a while so im delighted to get my mits on them, really like the auld mir kits.
  24. Excellent thanks for the link Broithe, im slowly building up 4 of them not a great fan of the heller kit thou.
