  1. The old junction one line to Waterford South and the other to Waterford North. Freight to the site of the South station continued to run till a lot later than most people think thanks to the foundry, were a few of my relatives worked till the operation moved to the IDA estate. The remains of the signal cabin. The next part will be to Kilmeadan plus pics of the alignment from Waterford South to the junction.
  2. Nice to see the first overbridge still in good order, on the roof theres still a healthy weathering of soot from the hardworking locos. Within a few yards of here the old line to Waterford South now used by the Narrow gauge railway. Nice to see the Great Southern chairs still in use on the line!!!
  3. Done this walk a few years back just after the track was lifted, so time to return and hit whats left of the ballast:p The old red bridge is detiorating at an alarming rate, a few years back i was out as far as the fence didn t fancy it this time though!!!. The last time i was here it was practically clear, only for a a horse riding school using the route, id be still out there weedwhacking. Still plenty of ballast and old sleepers in the undergrowth, sorry to see that the fixed distant signal board has been "liberated". Lots of evidence of "walking nocturnal wires" that used to be along the line.
  4. I tried from all angles but to no avail but it was a freight livered one
  5. One freight livered 071 in hiding on the far side of the mark 3's with empty liner flats, 076 at the refueling point Tut, tut someone has damaged the lamp iron:facepalm:. Went for a little walk again from the red bridge to the toll plaza on the bypass, just the start of a stroll on the Dungarvan line to be done over the next few weeks.

  17. Couldn t agree more Anthony, there would be a need for a hefty upfront deposit. Also a more professional process would be needed. In the past i have looked into this, we would need to have a company or a proper society before anyone from the manufacturing world would even sit down with us(not to mention a juicy cheque). The only other option would be to work with Murphy or a retailer such as the ones that have done commission's in the past but bear in mind they wouldn t do it for free and would need a cut out of the sales. Dapol and Heljan would be the only well known manufacturers who would go for it
  18. Went out for a pic of the new livery 071, and got a 201 surprise instead!!! i can t resist to include a little pic of my 226 seen as it is my 226th post
  19. According to Paddy murphy in his interview with Ben Jones a few years back, yes. Members on this site is 387 so it seems pretty accurate still.
  20. Its definetly possible but it would only work on lets say a bubble cement, were most will need multiple wagons for there use. I remember reading somewhere that the Irish oo guage market is 300 approx. With a break down of 65% in ireland, 35% rest of the world. If we were to do it, it would have to be done right, not a copy of the MIR runs. Maybe a limited edition 071 to get us started and work from there. I know the n guage society in the UK do it The only loco I can see that would be viable is the A class
  21. Seamus don t forget the vampires!!!!
