    Going retro tonight, Dire Straits while cursing number 3 scratchbuilt tara really tempted to bin it, call Mr Brady for a replacement and hide it in the rake!!!

    No, the ban was lifted in 1971, 22 years before EU directive 91/440 and the resulting 1993 Railway Act, Foster Yeoman, National power and ARC were doing private freight operations before this but with BR crews. Not to mention the numerous Preserved loco railtours,. I thought it was more Preserved locos in general my apologies on that. I would love to see more railtours especially down in these neck in the woods especially if they ever got Maeve out of Cultra i d know i try if the auld euromillions numbers came in.

    Might have missed something here, but hasn t the RPSI, ITG been doing this for years. Might be wrong on this but wasn t the RPSI doing the only Preserved steam runs in the British Isles till the ban was lifted in the UK?

    Beat me to it Garfieldghost, The norm with weight limits, speed limits etc is to operate within safe limits, the stock and infrastructure could take higher speeds, heavier loads but the risks and costs associated would increase dramatically. As it was drumed into us in college Assess the risk-> limit exposure to the risk-> find an alternative or eliminate the hazard.

    Was thinking along the same lines, there is a few differences between the two, other than the length there quite different around the bufferbeam/ ends as well. I haven t ever held a dapol one in the flesh but i d imagine some part of the chassis is metal for weight so it might lead to complicatioins during the conversion/lengthing

    I m currently working on drawings for the pocket wagons i ve over the bogies and the main frames done and dusted. Am i right in thinking the pockets will take a 45ft container unlike the UK versions which are 40ft's.(hope so as i ve drawn them to take 45 footers). Has anybody got detailed pics of the wagon or know were to get them on line?

    There also offering 10% of on all secondhand and obsolete items when you spend over £100. That class 57 is superb, was only reading an old Model Rail last night were they converted a class 47 to a 57 and used home made decals to produce the aboves livery, at the same time i could have swore one of my oldest locos a class 47 said don t even think about it!!!!. Man id want to get of these twilight shifts at work.
