  1. Affini = related, allied... I suppose it would come out something like "Italian Metal and Allied Processing" - Sometimes if you translate the words, you lose the actual meaning. -Rob
  2. Sincerest thanks to everyone who has replied, you've given me a deal think about, and go shopping for! If anyone else wants to chip in, feel free to do so. -Rob
  3. Sorry! Calling me slow can be an understatement at times... I missed that train No worries Dave! -Rob
  4. Should have been pretty decent, Chris Dyer was the seller.
  5. Say I was going shopping for a set of Mk3 coaches, which models should I be looking for to best represent the Irish Mk3s? Lima? Hornby etc? Please be as specific as possible Model numbers if it helps! From a repainting point of view, I was told some are better than others for masking/repainting, which would those be? Thanks for any and all assistance -Rob
  6. Good News! The autoballasters arrived safely this morning! Bad News! 'er indoors met the postman with the parcel!! Her - "And what did these cost? Me - "Ahh..."
  7. I might be grabbing the wrong end of one or many sticks here, but it looks like 112 sold out of many more than 082 and 071. Or it could be late and what little that remains of my brains have gone bye bye. Incidentally, those of you still waiting for me to understand the lokpilot v4 handbook so as I could tell you what CVs alter to get all the lights functioning properly on your 071s, I do hope you weren't holding your breath. I recognise the words on the page as English, I even recognise the order of the words as being appropriate to being English, but I have absolutely no clue as to what those words are telling me to do - i.e. 'it's all Greek to me...". -Rob
  8. Thanks Eamon for the pics of your 121 too, It's a mighty fine looking wee beastie
  9. Words fail me Anto - but you know me, I'll have a go anyway First, I know that I've seen your layout by proxy on Youtube many times, but I've got to say that is one gorgeous layout, that just looks 'right'. Second you run some wonderful stock, did I see, a Supertrain Mk3 set (wouldn't mind knowing the story of the construction/make-up of those sometime!), An A class (or a 001 class if you prefer), Mk1 and Dutch gen vans? (again I wouldn't mind knowing the story of those some time too), as well as those rather nice looking, and running 121s. I know you didn't really do it to gloat, but it didn't half make me envious - but also gave me something to aim at too. Thanks again Anto! -Rob
  10. Well Hornby have both the ex-Lima Mk3 tooling, and the ex-Airfix aircon Mk2 tooling.... If only...
  11. Concerning the Lima Mk3s.... Colour me green with envy! "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's Mk3s...." -rob
  12. I'd always been told that those BR containers travelled frequently on the Irish rail network, but having such a good atmospheric shot... Well... It'd be a shame not to... -Rob
  13. Just for info.... 'That' BS weebly site has 404'd i.e. gone as of my last checking it at 1637hrs 22 November 2012. -Rob ps Incidentally, there was an eirecom email address attached to the site, and the owner of did have a name with the initials 'B' and 'S'. From the dreadful spelling and grammar on the site, my opinion of it was that it was naive rather than malicious. Move along now.... Nothing (more) to see here...
  14. Hello Eamonn! It was probably your pics of Gerry Byrne's 121s running on his layout that jogged my memory in conjunction with the Barrack Street pics. Any time you get to do a feature on any of those model 121s, it would be appreciated -Rob

  16. Has there been a kit of the 121 released in the recent-ish past - If so what was the recommended chassis? -Rob
  17. It appears to be a Bulleid open transporting a British Railways container, a bit like this: http://www.ehattons.com/52679/Bachmann_UK_37_930C_3_Plank_Wagon_BR_Bauxite_With_BD_Container_BR_Crimson/StockDetail.aspx -Rob He says, without realising that the thread had moved on to 'page two' OOps!!
  18. With the intact box bottom too! Rarer than a very rare, rare thing!!! -Rob
  19. I think I speak for many people here when I say "Link please!" and "Details?" -Rob
