Were there any attempts to use oil / diesel to fire steam engines at any stage? Would oil be much less efficient than coal to operate an engine?

Hi guys, Can anyone identify the narrow gauge locomotives used on the Baldonnell construction railway? Photos from 1918 I believe. I have read they were from different manufacturers and eventually went to India. The two narrow gauge trains would convey up to 200 workmen each on up to 25 open wagons with back-to-back seats. Waiting lorries would convey anyone who could not be accommodated on the trains. Supplies for the canteens were also carried. The number of troops stationed at Baldonnell occasionally reached the 1700 mark and at times included American and Canadian soldiers.

MK3 and laminates would break me finacially but would really love them!!!

Which of these great models would have been seen on the Irish freight liners and during which years?

I think it may be too big for a carriage lamp. Is listed as a railway lamp and I thought it may be a part of a point indicator as @Mike 84C suggests.

Could anyone identify this type of lamp for me and its use?

These are a few photos of the Enniscorthy crane which would have been installed by the same railway company as the one in New Ross. Interesting to see how securely the feet secure the base into what I presume is concrete. Remarkably good condition gives its age but it is secure behind electric gates and fencing.

I also need spare vacuum hoses.

Actually I have heard Wexford CoCo are planning to retain and restore as much of the existing 'furniture' including the lattice signal poles and the level crossing infrastructure.

told it was found discarded at the north end of the station in the under growth Update: it was found in the overgrowth not far from the original position, near the entrance close to the Mart entrance.

Hi guys, Can anyone help identifying the item in the picture. It was uncovered as part of the greenway works in Rosbercon (New Ross). In the learned opinion of the members here is it: a) a pivot for a turntable? b) a pivot for a manual loading crane c) something else?
