  1. Am I correct in saying 113 was delivered a year or two after 111 and 112?
  2. Thats what I thought 201bhoy, just wanted to be sure.
  3. Seems sensible enough. Did the 111s go to inchicore for servicing when they were the main locos in the same way the NIR 201s do?
  4. Wow, they must have been fairly new still then. I bet they where a welcome curiosity for enthusiasts
  5. I was thinking earlier about how the 201s are a shared IE/NIR loco pool, but was this always so, for example did 208 and 209 regularly wander when they where blue? If not when did this system start? Thanks
  6. A quick eBay search for "OO mk3" produced at least 50 results, multiple makes and liveries. Pretty much any normal full length one would do
  7. I don't like the prospect of electric traction myself. It's hard to imagine Central these days without the 201 sounds.
  8. There's a plan to electrify? Didnt know that! Will that mean new electric locos to work the DDs?
  9. i heard on facebook that the DD sets will be getting refurbed and there is a possibility of a MK4 set(s) covering the services. people seem to have mixed views on it, talking about ICR sets being used, but one rumour is NIR would prefer a MK4. its good to hear its getting a cash boost edit: just watching the clip again, was that 230 at the end?
  10. Lovely lorries kirley. Just wondering, what do IE use lorries for?
  11. Thanks for the kind comment Hunslet. there will be more pictures to follow when the fence is installed, and a ballasting job elsewhere in the portwest area might just produce a Baby GM up from IE territory!
  12. I would say get it RTR, any examples of the silverfox model made RTR i have seen have looked really good, as enniscorthyman has said.
  13. there was some work being done on portwest today. the distribution company that owns the siding next to portwest station is planning to install a security fence around their property, and to make way for it, an old boxcar in use as a shed had to go. NIR's help was enlisted and soon 112 arrived with a recovery train to take the van away. she backed her motley collection of wagons into the distribution siding and the crane crews got to work things looked precarious at one point, as the boxcar swung out over the running line! but luckily the crews got everything back in order quickly, and 112 was given the right away to leave portwest and she was snapped powering away from the station on her way to the boxcar's new home as the office of the Portwest Preservation Society ( which you shall recall from a previous post) hope these pictures came out okay, and i hope you enjoyed reading the latest news from portwest!
  14. Looks great!
  15. What's the purpose of the cable train?
  16. It sure is. It also seems to MU well with other locos, which is good.
  17. I got a modelpower F7 today. This loco is all metal shell and chassis, which makes it very heavy, giving good pulling power. The detail is good, and although the hand rails are molded, you wouldn't notice when the loco is running. Here's a link to a video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xPPDrXp66U&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  18. That looks stunning! As has been said, you could model someone in the aisle, maybe the guy who comes round with the snack trolley? Looking forward to the video
  19. Yes but not model ones. As Garfield says it would be best to create a layout thread in the appropriate section.
  20. Looks great. Where are you getting the loco shells?
  21. Looks interesting. I would consider one to go with my cravens for a bit*of variety. Would depend on price though.
  22. Theres a pub called the auld house near where I live, I might get this model just because of that. It looks top notch
  23. I will be passing through on Saturday so I will have the camera ready. Shame to think the era of proper regular loco hauled trains other than enterprise and cork push pulls has really come to an end
  24. Thanks guys. Warbonnet, im actually going to be in Dublin Saturday but Im only down for the afternoon so might not be able to go to marks. Boskonay, I will keep an eye on eBay.
  25. I believe the motor itself is just done. I will keep my eye out for hornby spares, as well as those units you mentioned that had come up in discussion. Thanks for the link, it will definitely be useful
