  1. I use the Humbrol Acrylic satin varnish to seal weathering and the paint on airfix aircraft I build and i find it works well. However be careful with the amount you spray on as too much can slightly curl decals. However I cannot vouch for the Matt Acrylic nelson mentions, it may be different to the satin one
  2. Finally edited my video of Merlins trials on 13/04/14 to portadown, enjoy!
  3. Wow, that is a serious amount of locos ttc! I particularly like the big line up of Baby GMs, reminds me of the inchicore sound barrier with the row of Sulzers

They really are in a terrible state
  5. Thanks for the links! It's certainly a lot different from the 141s that I am more familiar with. More of a US style "control stand" than the "desk" you get in the others
  6. I'm actually in that group, never even thought to ask there, silly me! Thanks for the tip, I will do just that
  7. A bit of a long shot here, but would anyone have photos of the inside of a 121 cab, or know of a link to a site that does? I ask not for modelling purposes, so apologies if this thread seems a little pointless, but merely because I want to know what the control stand is like and what way it faces. Thanks, James
  8. I would guess they would use the same body shell on the NIR locos as the early IE ones. I hadn't actually noticed the 201s had two styles of marker light. Do the NIR ones have the new type these days?

I would imagine 224 will go to Dundalk and as you say a TPWS loco will take them on, probably on Sunday
  10. Rebelled, here's a link to the ehattons MM locos. 203 is actually cheaper than most of their 201s, so this might be a good place for you to get one perhaps http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/1000501/1000588/1000635/0/Murphy_Models_OO_Gauge_1_76_Scale_Diesel_locos/prodlist.aspx

GM171 is correct, it is supposed to be this Thursday. But as always with these things, that could change
  12. What? Why would lima bring out a 121? Seeing as they sort of don't really exist anymore...
  13. As you may have heard, due to an issue believed to be with dining car 547 on the RPSI trip to Bangor today, 85 was uncoupled at Bangor and 112 brought the rake back to whitehead. This is my video of 112 passing whitehouse bridge near whiteabbey station in Belfast, enjoy!
  14. Thanks Hunslet 102, that's exactly the information I needed. Getting a Hunslet Push Pull is my 'summer project' as such. Already got the dvt converted from a standard brake and just need to accumulate the other vehicles. I bought a silverfox Hunslet a while back and I must say it's a lovely model
  15. Old Blarney, would the winter 5 coach be DVT, standard, standard, diner and first? I'm working on assembling a winter formation rake at present
  16. During the late 90s mk2s worked the IE enterprise during the line relay. I would imagine the 071 ran around in central
  17. Thanks Killucan. Would all workings have had the diner in the formation?
  18. Hi there, Just wondering if anyone had details of enterprise formations from the 1970s when in maroon and blue? Don't need coach numbers or anything, just the types of coaches in the rake and number thereof when the train was running as a PushPull with a Hunslet? Thanks

    nice books

I have the GNR and MGWR editions myself, recommend anyone who is in the shop pick them up. Some really excellent photographs which are both interesting and useful for those wanting to model lesser known steam era prototypes and the like. Altogether great books!
  20. Yeah if you heard that off the guy I think you did over on IRPAP, he is best taken with a pinch of salt. The other week, he had the MK4s and 201s up for sale...
  21. It's a bit late, but I finally got around to putting together my clips from the NDMRS Bangor show in April. I thought you all might enjoy seeing some of the layouts again
  22. Those look great, especially the ir logo one. What where they used for in ir days do you know?
  23. Never seen the blue cravens done, but I have seen the half green craven modelled. What ever became of it?

Is the photo distorted or is that coach cut in half?
  25. For the white lines on IE stock, you can either use decals, or mask it very carefully and paint it. The RPSI lining would be too fine for paint, either decals or possibly a lining pen would be your best option. Haven't used a lining pen myself, but they are supposed to be quite tricky to use well, so if you weren't confident , a set of decals would do the job well. These would likely come with RPSI lettering and numbers etc along with the lining, so maybe the best way to get a good coach easily
