  1. CC1 kinda too?
  2. Yes the trailer was for use with 111s, and I believe they have conducted test runs with the gatwick set and dbso. No, 071s have never run on push pulls as they aren't PP fitted, although they have hauled PP rakes around, however in this event the PP is treated like a standard MK3 set, with running round at termini. And yep, it's still in York road, but hasn't moved an inch in years and to be honest I doubt it could move now without work being undertaken beforehand.
  3. Henry Blake? Nice video there Ben
  4. Thanks, I'll be keeping an eye out for a copy
  5. 071s have a lighter axel loading , better route availability and being less powerful/smaller engine they use less fuel. I doubt there are any trains in Ireland heavy enough to require the extra power of a 201 either
  6. Yep, for all the time it would take it might be best to redo the nose. May as well get it completely right. Besides that however, the model is looking fantastic!
  7. Kirley would it be possible to see the power car side on? To me the cab front looks a little pointy in that photo?
  8. Hi all, My YouTube channel is called nirthumper/ James Robinson I am going to use this thread to post links to videos I put up that would be of interest to forum members Could one of the moderators please merge my previous "CAFs around Sydenham" thread into this one? Here is a link to get started: 231 on the enterprise
  9. For anyone interested in modern NIR scene, a video of CAFs in the Sydenham area. Both 3000 and 4000 classes seen
  10. Thanks. Please do riversuir, it could be possible to get the back copy on eBay or something
  11. Thanks for the information Jhb, I have a notion 102 may have done a railtour while in the new blue? Any idea if this is true? Double hunslets, that must have been some noise!
  12. Hello all, I have a few questions relating to the NIR 101 class hunslets. Firstly, did a Hunslet ever work one of the occasional NIR fertiliser workings? And secondly, it is my understanding that 102 was reinstated in 2002(?). Does anyone have details of what she actually did while in service at this time? Thanks

    Sugar Beet Revival

Maybe it will be adapted containers, like the beet
  14. Lovely paint job, which number is she?
  15. Well that explains a lot! I thought there was the hopper type ones and a slab sided one, never new they where different sides of the one thing! Have any of them been preserved?
  16. I believe they're a 12' wheel base, WT
  17. http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/events/ In case anyone hadn't heard, merlin will be running public trains next Sunday (30th). Above is the link to the RPSI site where I noticed it earlier
  18. The gl8 version is closer to the 121, as it uses normal bogies. The ga8 is built for tight curves so uses freight wagon bogies
  19. I always loved the bus eireann scheme, seeing them about was a highlight for me anytime i visited the south as a child. Just proves it works as a corporate identity

    Ticket to ride

It's a wee but like original Hunslet colours. Would actually be interesting to have a running e in preservation like that

Was e428 once painted in west rail colours?

Is dunsandle a museum or is it someone's private collection?
  23. IE seem fairly incapable of painting two types of train the same. So now we will have mk4 livery, the 'snot green', silvery grey DMU livery, ICR version of silvery grey, enterprise livery, and a new green colour on some 29s?! And that's before you even get to locos. Although having said that, the new green livery does, from what I've seen, seem very nice
  24. An orange DD set! That'd be something worth seeing! Although due to the shared ownership, two rakes would probably end up in orange, and the other two in translink red bull colours...maybe not so nice
  25. Well said craven! Orange was a fantastic distinctive livery. If ain't broke, don't fix it! I actually think the orange done like the front of mk3 pp stock would suit the railcars fairly well
