  1. If you are on Facebook, join the group Irish railways past and present. A quick question there will produce what you want. I'm afraid I don't know the times myself
  2. If you are a skilled metalworker, or have a mate who is, you could have a set made bespoke, with nicely machined little bearings etc. Might be more bother than it's worth though
  3. Apologies Noel, misunderstood you. I get where you're coming from now! Yes I would agree they sound different. If you haven't heard a re engined C Class in the flesh, let me say they're very vocal and most impressive! Anyhow I'm getting off topic.
  4. Great stuff! The dark side will get you soon enough. It starts with one...
  5. Lovely video! Noel, dont be getting too hung up on the chassis starting off, after all a real A is quite 'spritely' off the line too. As enniscorthyman says that recording is from 39 and she isnt pushed too hard, for a start she's older than IE's 071s or even 146, and besides an A really motors so its not necessary to push it as far, so that might be why it sounds tamer to you.
  6. On a 141, No2 end is the one with the grille on the body side. From inside the cab photos if you see any, No1 cab has the starting controls and electrical cabinet, 2 doesn't
  7. It is a plywood surface which is braced underneath with cross members

    Liveries

    Yep, absolutely right there

    Liveries

Course, to complicate matters further, a number of locos received the IR logo over the CIE livery without getting tippex'd at the same time. Some may even have had a CIE broken wheel on the front and IR on the side but don't quote me on that
  10. While not strictly what you asked, the LED lights came later to NIRs 111s. 112 got them when on loan to IÉ, but 111 only got them last year, and 113 has been in York Road recently having them fitted
  11. Thanks NIRCLASS80, will have to decide what identity my loco is to assume after its painted
  12. Thanks Blaine! Yes agree there warbonnet, great locos. Thinking of repainting an old Lima I have into Laira Blue, hence checking what numbers I could do. While we're here, any recommendations for a decal/ etched nameplate supplier for 50s? Thanks
  13. Hi all, Would anyone be able to tell me how many, and which numbers, class 50s received the 'Laira Blue' livery? Thanks in advance, UP
  14. The grey models have the grab irons still on them richrua, and some people were unhappy with this inaccuracy. Hence slower sales
  15. Mayner, if it's the same as 3223 at Downpatrick then the exhaust comes out at floor level on the side. Think it's the right hand side if you're looking towards the van half of the coach
  16. What I think might look well would be to put it where the water tower is as you mentioned, but model it as an old disconnected shed, with some very weathered track inside it and outside and not actually connected to the mainline
  17. To be prototypical, it better show all three ages of Elvis!
  18. Are they small, or far away? Fantastic work, an intriguing post to read, something a bit out of the ordinary
  19. Liverbird, I think what Tony means is that he is doing a CAD model for computer usage as opposed to a physical model, for which he gave OO/N as well known examples, as such it wouldn't be to a 'scale' per se
  20. Survey completed. As Glenderg says, this sort of thing has potential to be very useful in the irish market
  21. Ooh I like that livery. In terms of the off centre yellow, it's not too bad. Sure they used to do GMs with all sorts of variations on the shape of the black 'V' on the cab front! I wonder how long before one gets coupled the wrong way round to a set though
  22. It flopped for a number of reasons. Firstly, the coaches were two axle bus bodies, so had a harsh ride. Secondly, the loco was underpowered, as it was essentially a switching loco in a casing. In addition, the casing made maintenance difficult
  23. I personally think that a return to Bachmann commissions would be the best option if its possible. The Baby GM is, I would say, the finest model in the MM stable. The MK2As, also excellent. With reference to the multiple issues with these coaches, I'd put it this way; can you imagine the uproar if Hornby or Bachmann released MK2s with high windows or fuzzy lining?
