  1. Kinda answered your own question there Noel; it has a resemblance to a snail. And flying comes from the lines making it look like it's moving fairly quickly.
  2. Good stuff Brian, have seen some of your photos of the Killymard on Facebook. I agree with Broithe, a video would be great!
  3. If you're going to run american models, I wouldn't recommend trying to fit OO tension lock couplings. The HO body mounted knuckle couplers are able to pivot, and this allows them to run around corners. Fitting a tension lock would probably derail trailing stock
  4. I heard somewhere that they once set off with the heater still plugged in
  5. Ah right I see. Must have gotten the two mixed up! Thanks for clarifying
  6. Forgive me if Im wrong but was Invisible Green not a BCDR thing?

    Class A

Bachmann USA do an Alco S2 switcher in HO for a reasonable price that looks to me like a decent candidate for a C Class chassis. Bogies aren't a mile away in shape and the battery box is a close enough shape too
  8. Those are probably laminates and Bredins. As for the MK2 with Dutch vans, are you sure they where MK2D air cons? As the pressure vent MK2A/B/C stock IÉ bought and refurbished from the UK ran with dutch vans converted to provide ETH
  9. That might have been me posting about it. I had to cut them out, they where in there to stay!
  10. Fantastic! Do you have any assembled brass As?
  11. No, As don't have air train brakes. Vacuum only. They actually have a vacuum loco brake as well, which is rather unconventional, especially given the Cs were built with air loco brakes.
  12. To me that one in the photo looks like GSWR compartment stock
  13. I wonder would they be able to do re runs of the Baby GMs? Does anyone know if MM or Bachmann own the tooling? Also i wonder could a 121 be based on the same chassis?
  14. Irishthump, I agree with what you said about quietting down over time. I've had them only a few days but I suspect they mightnt have run for a while with the last owner and after a few hours running in theres been a fair reduction in noise, which I think was probably the gears in the drive as opposed to the motor, which I think is one of the new cans. Warbonnet, thanks for the tips, will bear those in mind!
  15. While MM have undoubtedly done a great job with the releases to date, I think it's disadvantageous to lock our market into one manufacturer. We would be best exploring other options, and then perhaps we could have more than one thing done at once. Not in any way meaning to put down MM, I am eternally grateful for the work Mr Murphy has down for our hobby. Just trying to be realistic
  16. Hi all, I recently picked up an Athearn RTR GP60M and GP60B on eBay. Arrived yesterday, and I am pleased to say that they are great locos. The detailing is good, with realistically thin handrails, separately applied grab irons and see through roof fan grilles. The ATSF warbonnet livery is well applied, as usual for Athearn in my experience. They both run nicely on DC, although they are a bit on the noisy side. I hear this is fairly common for RTR range locos (all my previous Athearn locos have been Genesis). All in all, I'm very satisfied with my purchases, and would definitely buy another Athearn RTR model in the future. And to finish, a few photos
  17. Personally, I'm still undecided as to whether I would pre pay. Would as others have said very much depend on the model. However, I agree with Chris that Rapido would be an excellent choice of manufacturer where they interested. Their stuff seems to be great quality
  18. Great stuff, looks really well amongst the newer models aswell.
  19. Ah so they where painted at inchicore? Never knew that. Thanks for posting the links, some great stuff
  20. Anyone know what becams of the big Sundries van featured? Was it cut up after the fleet wasn't built?
  21. Sad to see the physical shop gone. I fear that in an online market, MSB may come in to difficulty even more so with them being undercut by box shifters like Rails, and having lost their main attraction of being able to physically see the item. Pity about it
  22. If you're just looking for a simple resprays job, you'd be better going with the older type (walrus), than faffing about trying to get something like the new ones.
  23. Burnthebox, Bredins are a design of coach built in the late GSR, early CIE period. They looked quite similar to laminates, hence why staniers can represent both types.
  24. My god! Id hate to be the Parcel Force man delivering that when someone orders it! Lol

    8111

Hi Garfield, not sure you understood my post correctly. I was making reference to the lights on 111 herself; I am aware what the deal is with 112s lights. My point about 111 is illustrated by the photos linked to earlier in the thread, and from seeing 111 first hand the day those photos were taken. So what I'm wondering is, are the lights recently fitted to 111 of IE origin? James
