Magnificent transformation!

BROOKHALL MILL - POSSIBLE SALE Hi all - I have had a number of kind folk reach out to me about the possibility of making my Irish micro layout ‘Brookhall Mill’ available for sale. It wasn’t something I had originally considered, but on reflection, it would be better if it was kept operational. If I had all the space in the world, I would do that myself, but I don’t and I’m moving on to other projects. So I thought I would float the idea to the members of the two forums of which I am a member to gauge (boom boom) if there was any firm interest, and then make a decision regarding putting it up for sale. The details are as follows: • OO gauge, with a scenic section of 48in x 18in, and a short single track ‘fiddle yard’ extension. All Peco track. • End-to-end terminus, not continuous run, with only very short train movements possible • DC, but easily convertible to DCC • GNR(I)-themed with a wide range of fully detailed and authentically-styled GNR(I) buildings, all with interior detail and illumination • Co. Antrim-based but easily adapted to represent other areas on the GN network and suitable for running stock into the modern era • Overhead lighting provided via rechargeable strips • Easily assembled and dismantled for exhibitions I was thinking of two pricing options: • £475.00 - to include a Gaugemaster twin-track controller (worth around £150.00) • £400.00 - without the controller Note that no rolling stock would be included in a sale. If there was sufficient interest, I would envisage the layout being available at the end of August. All enquiries via direct message - thanks!

Thanks JB. I have discovered a little issue with the wiring which I will fix once a particularly busy work period has concluded, then ballasting and final weathering

Nice! Will you include sidings for a preservation society nearby? Can’t wait to see this one!

It’s interesting that 5.5mm scale is almost exactly 1:55

All the track has been wired and painted - dark brown base colour for the sleepers then a dry brush of grey to pick out details, and rust for the rail sides. Then a good run over with the track rubber! I had to order the correct ballast, so no more progress until that arrives. Many thanks to Alan @Tullygrainey for his update on the progress of the chassis for the loco for the layout!

Very kind thanks David All track laid The boards to the left are the short ‘fiddle yard’ extensions. Running line to the left and limestone siding to the right. A big shout out to Alan @Tullygrainey for dropping in to sort the copper sleepers for the baseboard joints Busy work weekend ahead, then next week it will be painting and wiring of the track to look forward to!

Tracklaying today. This O-16.5 track seems to be easier to work with than OO gauge, even though they are essentially the same!

Just admiring this magnificent building again Alan. I definitely think it’s my favourite one of your many wonderful creations, probably because I know the prototype building so well. And bearing in mind your comment about the signalman’s tie, I can safely say this one Trumps all other signal cabin builds.

Totally amazed by the steps Alan!

Really looks the part Alan!! Does the signalman have a name? He looks a bit distant…….

I have visited Kells station in Co. Kerry many times - in fact I have visited all 3 Irish stations named 'Kells', but I digress...... This one was on the long branch from Farranfore to Valentia Harbour, which closed back in 1960. The station had up and down platforms, a classic (for the branch) corrugated iron-clad station building, as well as a stationmaster's house - it does not seem to have had a goods shed. The site is owned by Kerry County Council I believe and each time I have called, the station building has been locked. Not so tonight - a council employee was on business at the station and he kindly let me into the building and I was amazed to see how many original features remain.
