  1. A few photos from a very enjoyable and long overdue running session today on Clogherhead. Video clips coming later. Special thanks to Alan @Tullygrainey for coming along to help!
  2. The latest in my ‘Late Night Scratchbuild’ series….. I thought if the original GNR sand office wasn’t fit for purpose, but the sand traffic had to continue, then surely they would’ve provided a Portakabin….. And yes, it has a fully detailed interior…..
  3. My late night scratch built picnic benches are now in place on the flat area in front of the tea room. Pity it’s closed…….
  4. Yes, and maybe it shouldn’t be boxed into this thread
  5. Just realised this should have gone in my Clogherhead thread
  6. Some sneaky late night scratchbuilding…… two rickety looking picnic benches knocked up from the sprues of a now-built SMS laser cut product! These will be suitably weathered and placed on the flat area outside the derelict tea room.
  7. Here you go Alan! A show of USA firepower coming to BHM very soon…… with no doubt a healthy serving of insanity too……
  8. Tearoom now in place - still some landscaping needed.
  9. Now that is a treat to watch and the U back scene sets it off perfectly, stroke of genius there GM!! Lovely loco and carriage too!
  10. All superb models - would slot in very nicely at Brookhall Mill........
  11. Look out for more posts After Eight tonight.
  12. I was worried in case I was getting a bit toffee-nosed…..
  13. So it turns out that the new style of paper on the Quality Street sweets works a treat for what I was trying to achieve! As I had hoped, it helps to dull down the brightness of these lights, and also adds the distinctive sodium glare:
  14. I knew this would ignite something for sure
  15. Not railway-related but of interest......poor guy! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-68226509 Got to be some puns in this....
  16. Yeah saw that but am hoping the thicker paper will help tone down the brightness (a cheap resistor!) as well as give the orange 'sodium' glare....... will be checking this later
  17. Lovely Colin - the long sweeping curve really shows the train off to great advantage. Would like to see more of the layout too!
  18. Afternoon everyone - maybe this feature exists already and I haven't found it but I have been thinking that it would be handy (and nostalgic!) to have all the photos from a thread viewable in one place, a kind of gallery within a thread. It's handy when you can click on a photo and scroll through any others within the same post - could that feature be extended to include all the photos from the thread or could they be made available elsewhere in a searchable gallery? Just a thought!
  19. One of the first structures I built for this project was a disused tea room, but as the layout developed I realised the the room was a bit too large....... appropriate surgery was undertaken by removing a portion of the building's rear and thankfully the patient has emerged without any lasting damage. Bedding in and landscaping shall commence in due course.
  20. Spotted a nice pack of trees in my local Hobbycraft and lo and behold they are now on the layout! Another detail added too, a war grave commemorating the crash of a Vickers Wellington and the loss of her Canadian air crew.
