  2. Actually one little 'tip' I'm happy to share.... In the earlier days, I found myself having too much fun opening stock boxes and playing trains So, about two months back, I disconnected all the sections and haven't re-done the wiring yet The result is that, as it's about 15 minutes work to hook up all the sections and blocks again, the whole thing has been unpowered for 8 weeks, and I actually make progress That said, I haven't yet laid any new sections, as that would require the wiring live again to verify shorts I'd highly recommend that if you have work / scenics to crack on with - hide the transformer :)
  3. As Glenderg aptly described a few posts back, I'm taking a 'gardening' approach. Half an hour here, an hour there It's amazing how the time adds up, and even an hour can make a big difference to the layout Plus I have modelbaseboard Dave putting me under pressure now, building a vast bridge over the stairwell, only to add a vast viaduct and return loop and fiddle yard! All going well, I'll be able to run trains in circles by Christmas
  4. Are they still available Broithe?
  5. Welcome Gerhard, Your english is already better than most of us - so I am confident you will have no problems! :) You can link from imageshack, or just upload the images - there is a 2-3MB maximum, ideally images should be 1024x768 format and around 300-400KB in size. If you need any help, just ask

  7. Interesting is the word for it Learned my lesson - am ballasting now using a 'chunk' of 2x2 to stand in for the platforms, and will then carefully place the platforms back in once the ballast is all set and happy
  8. Lovely shot - that Bing Maps?
  9. Glue all wet, will clean up once dry, then push on to finish the ballasting for the other 4 terminus roads, now that the uncouplers are in place for the run round
  10. The DMU platform and stabling sidings now ballasted in...
  11. Another Stack of magnets in the post - this will be enough to install uncouplers on the all the terminus roads, the terminus run-round and all sidings laid, with a few left over. Not bad for £16/€20 including postage!
