Makes me wonder why I bought these things at the full price. -
A small portable generator will enable these things to work so long as they have a plug that can be plugged into an extension lead i.e. not hard wired.

We were without power from 2:30am Friday until 1pm Saturday. During the recent heavy snow we were without power for four days and without water for three. Hopefully we have now done our share.

Modellbahnshop-lippe.com used GLS to send me some Tillig track and ballast bases which made it quite a large parcel. Shipped from Germany 10th January and arrived here in Kerry 21st January. No hassle and a very helpful driver.

The shape colour of things to come. Having ended up with a duplicate of IRM NIR coach 902, I decided to repaint it in NIR 1970s maroon and blue. This is what it looks like. I'm sure IRM's livery application will be far superior but this does give an idea of what to look forward to. (I know this coach was numbered in the 800 series when in this livery, but I had no number 801!)

Use your wordprocessing skills to send them what looks like a solicitor's letter demanding immediate despatch by tracked service.

I like the Lima coaches. Unless you have code 100 rail you will need to replace the wheels. Flush glazing kits are available for many of the Lima coaches. They do have large tension lock couplers which you might want to change, or just keep them.

It's 20% of the value of your item plus shipping. But unless your shipping was £33 then the charge to you seems high.

Paul this is an excellent thread and your history of the spoil wagons is both fascinating and very informative. In their latter years as ballast hoppers they became prone to derailment and this resulted in a number of operational restrictions such as speed and loading.

BREL designs for Ireland - that didn't turn out like this

Now you can see why NIR purchased second hand tried and tested coaches instead of more experiments at high index linked prices, with a delivery date of God knows when. -
Congratulations

@amdaley Robert French was my Great Great Grandfather, his Granddaughter Natalie Marion French being my Father's Stepmother. I have a very interesting album of his photos taken in various towns around Ireland.

Surely you mean trains for teenage girls. They are the ones who thought it was cool -
Agree. For example by the time I had discovered IRM, all the orange cement bubbles were gone. They are now even more rare than hens' teeth and when they do appear expect to pay c €100 per wagon. My solution: buy IRM bubbles of any colour, a tin of paint and some transfers from Model Irish Railways who trade on eBay with the username sylvimcnall-0

I was very impressed with that Polish layout. The long run with buildings etc at realistic distances apart and the rolling stock. There is a very definite eastern European look about it.
