J C Pattersons and Fletcher's cycle shop, both in Lisburn sold Hornby Dublo and Meccano. I recall selling my Lego c 1972 and spending the five pounds realised buying a Duchess of Montrose set (BR maroon coaches) when J C Pattersons was stopping selling model trains. Their Meccano wassold off via Ulster Model Railway Club- Thank you Charlie Hamilton for organising that. I also remember window shopping as a young boy at Fairfield's ( I think that was the name), in the main street in Lurgan. I saved up for and purchased Triang clerestory coaches there. I recall they also had Hornby Dublo Suburban coaches, and my Dad bought me three of them.

Now that Peco are aware of problems with the delivery company, it will be Peco's fault if they continue to use them without getting things sorted.

Thanks Jonathan, it's difficult to find a picture of both ends of a train! I'll keep looking.

I'm reactivating an old thread in the hope of some information. I am placing an order with Silver Fox for a BUT set and have one question. Would a train, ever have run with a 700 series (side cabs) at one end and a 900 series (full width cabs) at the other? I like both types and am trying to make decisions without too much application of "Rule one".

Is there a current veterinary report?

If 180 was the maroon coach that was at GVS sidings beside the tobacco factory, then shortly before it was removed I rescued this GNR(I) map which was in one of the compartments. Some pictures were also rescued by friends of mine who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty!

I find that An Post's Address Pal service works very well. You get a UK address in Hatfield Herts and An Post forward the item to you in Ireland. AND they fill in all the customs paperwork correctly. Details at: https://addresspal.anpost.ie/ They also provide you with a USA address. Only downside is if you are buying new items you end up paying both UK VAT and Irish VAT, but it is ideal for second hand items on ebay and avoids the high charges of their global shipping service.

@jhb171achill the motorist was not injured at Tweed's crossing. The person who was killed there was a passenger in the train. His mother and the motorist (who got everyone out of the car in time) were work colleagues. Her husband was Billy Tweed, part of the NIR PW team at the time.

Jonathan, I just spotted this post. It was the Tweeds Accommodation Crossing where the motorist stalled as you have described. At Slaght, the crossing was not working but the train came anyway, hence the train driver being tried for manslaughter. Two adults in the car died and two children in the car were seriously injured. One railway passenger died and 27 injured.

Possible Warning about Murphy Models Counterfeit Goods
Colin_McLeod replied to WRENNEIRE's topic in News
I agree. That reinforces that the correct thing for Paddy to do us take action against the factory. I suppose he can claim for the loss of gross profit on each loco. That would be a figure that Paddy could substantiate. -

Or he could do what IRM did with the sale of Diki Taras. -

I was under the impression that the 121s sold out years ago and the only way to get one is to buy second hand (at prices north of €300). So, unless Murphy Models have some to sell, how are they losing out? I suppose it all depends on the wording of their contract with the factory re excess production and intellectual property matters. -
What! With black & tan trains on CIE and green trains on UTA!
