    Great modelling. I recall seeing 6 and 7 at Dunmurry when Dad took us for a walk along the trackside path.

    It is my recollection that the C class were purchased for PW trains, not lignite. NIR ended up with more C class than planned because CIE were literally giving them away. We later discovered why LOL. Regarding lignite, the plan was to acquire new wagons and locomotives (GM Co-Co aka 111 class) funded by the terms of the contract. It never happened because of the adverse environmental impact. The lignite traffic was being considered around the same time as nationwide flows of refuse to a mega landfill site at Maghermorne. Again it was stillborn because of environmental objections.

    The two big mills in Lisburn that were adjacent to the GNR(I) were Stewarts which was demolished in 1985 and Hilden (Barbour Threads) which closed February 2006.

    I have seen Drew's models, both at Cultra and in the top floor of his house on the Lisburn Road. Nice and all as the Cultra display is, Drew's models were best seen in operation at his Tuesday night operating sessions. Sadly those days are now just a memory. RIP Drew.

    Well done to Robert for designing this product and well done to Irish Railway Models for undertaking its manufacturer. Hope both parties have a clear agreement with each other to ensure a smooth passage to market! Looking forward to this product for my junction station where I will deploy one that serves four platform roads (three staircases).
