I bought one of Redplant100's hoppers on ebay and was so impressed, I got another 11. They really do the job.
Dapol donor, brass handwheels and angle iron ends and two piece resin body, (hopper and base). Very, very tasty.
The outlaws live only 6 miles from here, if only I had got back into the hobby earlier, I'd have seen it for myself. Kingscourt line is fair wild now.
15 hoppers! And there's me thinking 12 would do the job...
You lucky lucky boy!! How the HELL did you get that font? Knowing your IT skills you probably scanned, traced and developed your own *.ttf file!
Very nice.
What a christmas present Richie, you're some man for one man. Love the old enamel signs. You should at least put up a paypal link with your email to allow us to make a voluntary donation. I know from past experience just how much work is required! If Jimmy Wales can take donations well..so can you!
Jayzus, I'm weak at the knees after that Jacobite train. Just. Stunning.
Garfield, that drone-chopper looks like a business proposition! I'd love to see it done. Killorglin to Valentia anyone??
Would have to say though that the helicopter shots at the end were just beautiful, particularly in how much of the original Victorian infrastructure was in place. If we could have had that for 30 minutes without the guff, t'would have been cool.
I'd love to see a program with a helicopter following some of the closed lines.
Or indeed a speeded up steady-cam on the line or hanging for a remote controlled mini-helicopter traversing just some of the more picturesque parts of our closed routes...

Too true, but it is a hell of a lot better than its absolute nadir in the 70's.
At least now:
there is some sort of structured bias towards the pedestrian
The GPO was cleaned up and fire damaged stone remedied
Daniel O'Connell monument and others have been cleaned up and renovated
The hoor in the sewer is gone ( the stilletto beats it even on a bad day)
The Luas is sure better than nothing.
The jury is still a bit out about the lime trees as versus the plane trees....
Faoi na líomaí how are are yez!
Did you see the state of the West on Track lad? Fáinne, tie two inches undone, a tooth gap you could have ridden a bike through. Image lads, image.
Oh,and absolute fluff.

Sound man. As I've stated on these pages before, if you decide to give it a shot, do NOT proceed without the following
1. bog standard soldering iron 25-35 watts
2. Carrs 145 solder and Carrs Green Flux (Chronos or DCC concepts)
The 145 solder melts at a lower temp and much faster (added bonus: you can hold one end of a piece without burning your fingers)
The flux reduces surface tension and helps the solder to flow very easily into a joint
3. Fine sandpaper or better still a fibre brush
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fibre-glass-scratch-remover-brush-watch-scratch-tool-/400345713587?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_WatchAccessories_SpareParts_SM&hash=item5d3676cbb3
You need this to remove the brass oxide layer. Solder and flux will work much better with the oxide removed. The brush removes it without leaving scratch marks or removing detail on the bras sheet
Ger, top drawer job sir. She really looks the business. And thanks for the shout out! The windscreen wipers look the dogs. Chemical blackening or just paint?
