Hi all, Thought I'd start a thread for the IRRS Manchester branch events, these are all detailed on our branch website here. We're a friendly bunch so you'll be very welcome in person or onion for any of our talks. Our next talk is in Bury, this coming Thursday afternoon. Andrew Waldron will present 'An Irish Railway Miscellany' and having seen the draft slides - there will be something for everyone. If you want the dial in details, or to be added to our mailing list, then do please drop me a line for further details. Most of our talks are conventional evening talks and usually held in Central Manchester. The full programme for early 2025 is on the branch website as per the link above. If you want any more details, please let me know. Richard.

Hi all, Bachmann announced these coaches yesterday: https://news.bachmann.co.uk/2024/10/premier-coaches-for-the-premier-line/?utm_source=Bachmann+Europe+Railway+Newsletter&utm_campaign=7534803bfd-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_rail-arrivals-31-07-23_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9dcd9c565-7534803bfd-465753002 They look great, and of course it got me thinking whether they'd be any use for anything for the GNRi. I've had a look through the usual books, and I can only see a handful of photos of the ex LNWR coaches acquired in 1947 in use. there's a great one on page 107 of 'The Great Northern Railway :An Irish Railway Pictorial' behind PPs No.43 (running with a modern tender which it seemed to have acquired in 1956) with two of the LNWR coaches on the Bundoran Branch. Calling Jonathan Beaumont @jhb171achill for some further thoughts perhaps? Cheers for now! Richard.

Hi, I'd be interested in a JT, depending on price, maybe two. Richard.

Hi all, Couldn't see anything on this, and I should probably declare an interest as a Warley member(|!), but there will be an Irish presence at Statfold over the 12th and 13th October - the late John Seward's layout, 'Inver' in 7mm modelled on the CDRJC station of the same name will be running over the weekend. If you're coming along, there's sure to be a lot of interest of course with the normal stat fold attractions..as well as a cracking set of layouts.... http://www.thewarleyshow.co.uk If you're coming along, feel free to say hi! Rapido Launch "Evolution" Range of 48 Foot Generic Bogie Coaches
Richard EH replied to DJ Dangerous's topic in News
It'd be a shame to! My view with these is that you're paying for a great paint job and detail - and having tried to paint LNWR livery, it's something I can really appreciate when done well - as it looks terrible when done badly(!) cheers for now! Richard. -

If you squint, the GNR ones could pass for GNRi coaches.... the lovely paint work will look the part I think with a crest! Richard. -
Welcome James! Look forward to following your work on here! Richard E-H

No worries at all. As Flying Snail says, pretty much going rate for 00Works, esp. one which you can finish to suit. -

Pretty reasonable, I think, I'm not looking to make a huge amount on these just what they're worth, and am hoping they'll find good homes. -

Great to see you Leslie, & Robert, as well as meet you Darius! All in all, a great weekend, seemed like we've never been away, but of course, we've lost some good friends over the last three years. Richard.

Hi all, Looking forward to catching up with friends this weekend at Warley. I'll be helping on stand A, but when not there, will be over at Inver, which has had a lot of work done on it by the club in tribute to it's creator, John Seward, a great friend to Irish Railways at Warley show, and more widely, over the years, or the IRRS stand. Here's to a great weekend! Richard E-H

Yep, sorry about that - hence why I put the note up front about it so expectations are right at the start. I know there are UK based modellers on the forum, including me, so we shall see if there's any interest in it. I'm in no rush to part with it, but if anyone is interested, do let me know. Richard.

Hi all, I've one A class surplus to requirements, A30, in silver, mint, boxed, test run only. Happy to provide photos if required. £169.99 + postage at cost. (I'm UK based so please bear in mind any extra postage costs as a result of our self imposed exile from friends (- sorry about that....!)) Cheers for now! Richard.

These two are looking great, really good work! Never seen a mogul done like this before, so watching with interest! When I did my jeep (described on here a few years ago, the lining was the nightmare for me - the straw and red UTA lining is really difficult to get right. I ended up doing the straw first, light coat of varnish, and then the red inner line which seemed to work ok, but was really difficult to do. Needless to say, I couldn't find a source of transfers that would do the job. Richard. These two are looking great, really good work! Still seems a shame Hornby haven't done a U2 from their 2P, such an open goal for them! Richard. -

The Oxford rail/or Hornby, Adamas radial makes a good BCDR locomotive. I've converted an Oxford one, James Hilton did the finishing, photo here; https://paxton-road.blogspot.com/2021/05/commission-irish-4-4-2t-paintwork.html Note, I've no link to James, just a happy customer! Richard.
