Once again, my college course in the Dublin Institute of Technology allowed a visit to somewhere a little restricted - Inchicore. No - if you look at this picture ( ), that box is for the Train Management System (TMS). Without it, the driver in the 201 cannot communicate with the rest of the train. Plus you've got all the NIR Safety Equipment, such as AWS, TPWS, Train Radio etc. Aclass007 is correct - 201-205/210-214 are all out of service for a number of years now

Evening all, A triple update from me tonght Shots from Monday at Portlaoise and Heuston, although mainly from Heuston and the fun and games that were had by the operating staff with the 2100 Heuston - Cork. It resulted in an unusual 11 car ICR formation (split into a 3 and a 4+4) with the majority of the front coach off the platform.
