  1. My point in posting was that they do sell wagons singly. Bearing in mind the size of the UK market compared to the market for Irish models here they probably commission a larger run of the UK models. It might be feasible economically to sell wagons singly for the large UK market but might not be feasible here. Then there is the 10% discount on two or more which gives a discount of £16.49 on three of the siphons, that gives a price of £148.36. Converting to € that is cheaper than the three Mark 2b coaches , but that is probably down to the economy of scale between the two markets. It would be interesting to see a per unit price for the Mark 2b coaches if packaged and sold as single units. But if you only bought one coach there would probably be an add on delivery charges. The initial outlay for a pack of three units may seem expensive but when you factor in all costs to be recouped it is probably the most economical way of doing it. Be that as it may it does not address the issue if somebody only wants one or two single units, but most of the models they sell are based on wagons than ran in rakes rather than single vans. I admit that if you are stuck for space for your layout six coaches may be too long for you to accomodate and maybe four would do. Maybe there is a niche for units to be sold in single units. If the extra unit was sold with the multi pack that might negate the need for a delivery charge on the single item if bought on it's own. I think it's a matter of the customer letting their needs be known and for the manufacturer to gauge whether it is worth while to cater for it.

  5. I might be able to source one in the shed.......Open to offers, but please note it will have to ship by registered post owing to the high value. IRM will have to be in blue as the black permanent marker has run out. Contact: Chancerparexcellence@EBAY
  6. Run up to Supervalue or your nearest fruit stockist. Get one of those wooden boxes with the slats and stencil IRM on the side. It'll be grand. Turn down the lights, take a photo and stick it on EBAY.

  8. You do not need the spring. The point rails will catch on the little lugs attached to the outer rails. You can bend them up if the point will not catch and stay put. I changed over to Peco Electrofrog when I rebuilt the layout over twenty years ago and those points are still in use and none have needed to be replaced.
  9. If they had some bread it could have been a "loaves and fishes" tale.
  10. What you mean to say is..By the time I got the credit card off the wife, got permission to use it etc etc. Just "MAN" up and admit it, we are all in the same boat. And just to let you all know. The Gardai are absolutely useless in this situation. Said it does not come within their remit.
  11. Remember the "Chippendales?". They were very popular. I was thinking of forming a similar outfit to help fund the purchase of future IRM releases. Anyone interested? What will we call our selves. It'll have to be railway themed of course....
  12. The 1963 Peel P50 was the smallest car ever mass-produced. It featured three wheels and a single seat with a 49cc 4.2hp engine. It didn't have a reverse gear, but a handle at the back allowed it to be physically maneuvered as needed. So the wife comes home and says "I passed my driving test. I had no bother with the reversing part of it."
  13. It would be a bit of a contrast parked beside a black and tan or a black liveried class mate.
  14. One of these would be nice
  15. If you mark the IRM newsletter as "SPAM" it will go straight into the SPAM folder where you can peruse it at your leisure....

  17. If Irish Rail were to outshop an 071 class loco in "black and tan" livery it would give Murphy Models the perfect opportunity to release another 071 model. I always wondered what an 071 "black and tan" would look like. Actually I'd like one...
  18. Anyone awaiting an order from IRM and it is taking longer than expected? Here's why....
  19. We have been speculating as to whether IRM will follow their acclaimed "A" class model with it's smaller sibling the Metro Vick "C" class. Bearing in mind that IRM have been lauded for their attention to detail and the accuracy of the various derivitives of the "A" class model we assume that if they were to release models of the Metro Vick "C" class it would be to the same exacting standards. The "A" class loco weighed in at 82 tons whereas the "C" class weighed in at 61.5 tons, roughly two thirds the weight of the "A" class. Would the model of the "C" class weigh two thirds the weight of the "A" class models and more importantly will it be two thirds the price of the "A" class.....? Just trying to prepare my case to present to the Head of Household Finances should the "C" class arrive.
  20. I can imagine the topics of conversation as we serve our sentence....
  21. But there won't be a black and tan variant......
  22. If it was a silver "A" with the Crossley engine as delivered, I'd say a tin of Dulux black undercoat would give that authentic look
  23. Here is a discussion that features the Crossley diesel engines used in the "A" class. It is not specifically about the engine but starts with the BR Class 28 BO-CO which was powered by the engine. CIE comes into it. Worth a read. BR Class 28 query - RAILROAD.NET

  24. And then there was 019 in the experimental livery which was a precursor to the livery on the GM 201's. Are we ever satisfied?
