if I recall right spent most of its OHLE train life in one of the bays at Pearse and only moved down N Wall in its last few years? I think it had the company of a BR van in Pearse but could be misremembering...

Quick update for those interested in doing both days, we now have ONLY 6 TWO DAY TICKETS LEFT— capacity on the Sunday excursion is very limited. Grab em while you can here https://www.tailtetours.com/events/the-premier-rose-railtour (choose the 'Combo' ticket for both days). We've had a few more society stands confirmed for the Saturday diesel tour so it's shaping up to be a great social occasion while raising money for good causes and providing an unusual haulage opportunity.

Well done. Grew up in the area and you've captured the feel well, recognised Esmonde St bridge and all.

Some of the mechanics described in The Third Policeman wouldn't out of place on a steam locomotive footplate (paying attention to readings and making adjustments etc.).

Lovely stuff, 161 was a failry early 141 class casualty... anyone remember why? -
Following our diesel railtour to Kerry on the Saturday, on Sunday 21st August we have organised a special outing to the Cavan and Leitrim Railway at Dromod. This will include some special workings involving their beautifully restored Avonside steam locomotive "Nancy" and former Bord na Móna diesel No.LM114 "Joe St Ledger". Normally there is only one loco used at Dromod on a running day so this a rare chance to get two. Travel to and from Dromod will be by Iarnród Éireann service train, with an afternoon departure from Dublin allowing participants a chance of a lie-in after the previous day's trip. For those wishing to travel on both tours and make a weekend of it, a special combo rate ticket is available, at €120 all-in this is incredible value for a two day railtour; indeed it's less than that charged for many one day railtours in Great Britain. https://www.tailtetours.com/events/the-wild-rose-railtour

I think one of the Tom Ferris 'Irish Railways in Colour' books has a picture of the mogul itself in front of the S Class. Interesting that the mogul tender is actually in green livery but you'd never tell at a casual glance! -
The latest article on our Táilte blog might be of interest to modellers, we *think* we've covered every livery variation the 201s have carried in service. (That said there were variants within the original Enterprise scheme, but that would take up an article in itself!). https://www.tailtetours.com/post/the-201-class-the-irish-gm-fleet-with-more-than-meets-the-eye

Excellent stuff! -
Always thought this would make an intriguing compact little layout, plenty of potential for single 121s running bonnet first etc.

I just use them in Tesco allowing me to use my shopping budget on nicer things...

Indeed, the hospitality sector in general has been affected like this. I deal with a few hotels in work and there's been a sudden spike in recruitment drives.

We've had some queries asking if we'd do a Kildare pickup/set down. It's something we're enquiring with IÉ about, but we wanted to get a gauge as to whether many would be interested in joining the tour there? As a guestimate, you'd be looking at around the 10:30/40 mark and then back sometime after 21:00. The fare would be the same as ex-Dublin/Portlaoise.

Sometimes associated with being 'studentey' but well worth doing. I did one in early 2020 (just before, well, 'it' happened) and was a great way to spend a few weeks exploring at my leisure. Wasn't meant as a gricing trip per se but got in plenty of nice electrics and some GMs in Norway.- 1 reply

Particularly like 071's name... now if we could have a Dublin South Eastern, Midland Great Western, Cork Bandon & South Coast...

Perchance an alternate timeline where a Woolwich was saved instead, now there's a dream...
