  1. We have a good few travelling up from Cork for this, there's a set down on the return journey at Mallow (18:15) to make travel a bit easier (Passengers are welcome to join/get off at any of the stops, but conscious a 20:40 Dublin arrival means a later trip back for the Corkonians). T

  3. It's mentioned in the latest IRRS journal, 80000 will be the hybrid units, 90000 the pure electric. (Excellent issue incidentally, well worth joining for).
  4. As far as I know 1944 (preserved at Downpatrick) came straight off the last Limerick-Waterford set, with the other two from it, 1400 and 1946, going straight to Clonakility Model Railway Village. In fact she very briefly operated at Downpatrick in IR livery before sidelined for restoration, emerging in 2018 in original 1950s dark green (which some did carry, we have photos to prove it, before I'm shot!). There's a photo somewhere on the interweb of 1944 being hauled to Dublin after.
  5. There's a few rumours (aren't there always?) flying around as to what loco is going to work this tour. It's far to early to quote a specific one so I would disregard any rumours quoting 2XX etc. As it stands, we have requested an Enterprise loco, as with any railtour this will be subject to availability at the time. 201s are rare visitors to the branches we're covering, even moreso Limerick (despite being there daily until the late 2000s), and an Enterprise liveried one even rarer still. Again, this is conditional on availabliity on the day as I'm sure anyone who frequents railtours understands.   6. I have one my Dad's old Railway Modellers from the early 80s which reviews Hornby's then new Class 58 model and discusses how it pre-empted the prototype, which had yet to debut. I believe it turned out there were some flaws but still.
  7. Finally got a chance to open mine (1:1 scale railway modelling took up my Sat ). Lovely little creatures indeed. Looking forward to running some mixed green Park Royals when they come out, old CIÉ stock formations look fun.

  12. Just the two and I believe always together but open to correction. Would often be a CityGold carriage in the formation too and a 74xx diner.

After almost a year of no operations after the disastrous floods, the Downpatrick & County Down Railway will be running trains once again this month as The Phantom Flyer rolls into town on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October. The stock in use will be 450 class 'Thumper' set No.458 "Antrim Castle" (as seen on Derry Girls).   16. WayBackMachine doesn't always save images depending on what way they were hosted. I suspect in Fototopic's case the images were on a different server to the site superstructure.

  24. Dublin Heuston-Limerick Junction (reverse)-Limerick Check (reverse)-Killarney(reverse & break)-Dublin Heuston. Booked stock is a 201 class loco and a mkIV carriage set, this will be the first ever passenger working of a mkIV set over the Limerick line, having previously only worked there on acceptance trials/works visits. 201s are also now comparitively rare visitors to the Limerick and Tralee lines, with 071s traditionally more common on PW and railtour workings. https://www.tailtetours.com/event-details/the-great-southern-railway-centennial-railtour
