  1. Hi BabyGM, I picked up a can of RAL2011 only just this evening. My local 'Top Part Motor Factors' in Dungarvan mixed it up for me on the spot. Cost 20 Euro for a 400ml can. Heaps cheaper than Vinny Byrne! It's not an acrylic but a cellulose based paint. So you'll need thinners for any clean up. I sprayed my EGV with a can of it last week and it worked a treat with Halfords plastic primer as a base. Hope it's a help:tumbsup:
  2. Even more impressed now... All the vertical access ladders, stairways, pipe work and framing is exquisitly done.
  3. Only for the 'Giant' box of precision screwdrivers in the background... some of those shots could pass for aerial photography of the real thing!!! Stunning work on the weathering. Liking the Silo and all the ancillery equipment that goes with. Are these kit built or scratch built? Top stuff:tumbsup:
  4. I'd have to say I'm a fan of 'street art'. But only when it's executed well, say in Brighton in the UK or in the back streets of the CBD in Melbourne. That 'tagging' nonsence shown above on the Plasser is quiet s#!t. Banksy need not worry about ths lot!
  5. Excellent photos as always Csalem. You took some lovely shots down around Cork/Midelton. Keep up the good work:tumbsup:
  6. Cheers lads. Much appreciated info on the masking tape. Anything that can help move the production line along on my Mk3 rake project is a bonus:tumbsup:
  7. Class work Glenderg, Didnt know cardboard could be such a great medium for model making. The detail is incredible. Will be watching how the Connelly Engine shed turns out with particular interest. Awesome stuff:tumbsup:
  8. Wouldnt mind getting a look at that... please stick up a few photos when ya get it Boskonay. They had plenty more repaints on offer that day (repainted autoballasters in IE livery/re-painted Virgin Voyager coaches in Enterprise livery etc...). But I'd already broke the bank by then!!!
  9. Very interesting stuff there josefstadt. Thanks for the diagrams. Im sure I've been over that bridge many times now that I know where it is. Used to live up near there a few years back. Interesting how all it's all evolved over time, overbridge/permanent way etc.... There is some really impressive railway architecture in Ireland for sure
  10. I saw some of these at the Wexford show. They were for sale at themodelshop.ie stand. Those lads have some pretty tasty repaints.... Will have one of their Windhoff MPV's in IE livery yet (Even if there is no such thing, still a brilliant model!!!).
  11. It's an impressive video alright. They're some operators! Worked on a few bridge change out projects when overseas, taking out old timber spans and replacing them with steel spans/concrete abutments. You'd be amazed what could be done in 12 hours! It's sad to see the demise of what to be honest is some well put together civil engineering. But there has to be progress too. Anyone familiar with what happened next? Is there a wider road bridge going in, or was it just a clearance issue for trains on the mainline?
  12. Hey Enniscorthyman, In regards to your secondlast photo... Is that the weedspray train crossing Ballyvoyle Viaduct outside Dungarvan by any chance? Great pic :-) Shinkansen
  13. Some weapon of an engine! Never seen one of these with the engine covers off. A great find Retro
  14. Absolutely class work there Scahalane, Certainly wets the appatite for the rest of us without MIR kits! Roll on the fortcoming 071's in the autumn :-) Nice weathering too. Can ya tell me where did you source the 1mm tamiya masking tape? I have a job for that. A rake of Mk3s to paint! Cheers.
  15. I'm pretty sure you or someone else on the forum has said that before it's really familliar! ROFL I think a starter set with a 201 in it would be very dear, as the 201s are 150 euro on their own... It would be great though... 220 or 203 and some mk2s or mk3s Yeah, it's 'economies of scale' and all that jazz, the big UK brands can do quality alot cheaper cos they move alot more product. That's the price ya pay for living on a small island I suppose. But in all fairness... we're spoiled for choice thanks to Paddy Murphy. Have added a pair of 141's and a 201 to join the railcar on my layout since.
  16. True, it's not for everybody. But I actually quiet like it. When I lived in Maynooth a few years back, used to take railcars in this livery quiet regularly. Yes I agree its not the right class of rail car, the bodies are too long and the doors are in the wrong place! But it is an excellent runner, smooth and trouble free. The livery matches perfect to the era I want to model (modern IE). And finally, it's the reason I'm in the hobbie at all. I bought one at Christmas from Marks Models and Im the slippery slope into Irish Railway modelling ever since!!! Would have loved to have seen the new MM201s as a starter set, maybe a few Mk3s with it. Or a 141/181 and Cravens set. For anyone starting out the choice is pretty much all British in the shape of Hornby and Bachmann train sets. Anyway that's my 2 cents worth...
  17. Hi Boskonay, thanks for the info. Will contact him shortly. Was thinking about alterering one of the Bachmann DMUs (class 158 I think maybe???) to suit and repainting it in IE colours. But It would never look as well as the one shown above. Tis exquisite work for sure:cool: Cheers, Shinkansen .
  18. Stunning layout ttc. Followed Tara Jntn with great interest on the old site so looking forward to more developments and inspiration in future. I am a big fan of the 2600 railcar you have. I know there's a chap on this producing them in limited runs. Does he have a website by any chance? I would like to get a good look at a few close up pictures of it plus have an idea of price before making my mind up and buying. Cheers for the help and good luck with the changeover to DCC (something Im thinking about too) :-)
