  1. A very happy Christmas indeed over on North Wall by the look of it Well wear with the rake of Mk3s.... Nice one.
  2. Hi Garfield, thanks dude... Its a Frateschi model of a New Zealand Railways loco. Not an exact match to the real thing but close enough. Would like to add some detailing parts to it, improve the handrails and glazing and bring it up a notch. Would look cool double heading with my other DX and a rake of coal hoppers (Just like I remember them). It's a Brazilian manufacturer and the quality is a good few years behind what's expected in the US and Europe now. But the new 'Kiwi Rail' livery is spot on and looks rather striking on a layout (or it will when its built!!!). Hi Sulzer, as far as I know they're GE locos. It's an export model that turned up on many narrower gauge railways around the world. NZ being fairly narrow compared to Ireland due to all the mountainous topography on the North and south Islands. These locos also turned up in Brasil, South Africa and Taiwan I believe. I saw them mostly hauling Coal trains and the Tranzapline passenger train down in the South Island NZ. Sometimes with 2, 4 or more locos to cope with the steep gradients. Loving the UP SD70 and Star Wars Christmas party... Warbonnet. I have turned to the darkside of railway modelling after all Cheers lads, Hope Santy delivered for you all this year
  3. Happy Christmas to all on the forum, and the very best wishes for the new year 2013 . I must have been a good boy during 2012! The Girlfriend/Santa brought me this back from New Zealand... A HO scale Kiwi Rail "DX" GE U-20-C, What a lady
  4. Amazing piece of infrastructure you have there. Tunnels, cross canyon/stairway bridge and a curved arched viaduct. Jealous much! Hats off to Dave and his workmanship Cant wait to see services running on the mainline on this layout. The viaduct gives it a real 3 dimensional element i reckon. Something i want to have on my own layout when it gets built. Inspirational stuff
  5. I know politics is a bit of a taboo subject here, but a certain "election poster" from Iran could make an interesting bill board on a layout. What do you reckon? Surely one of the most bizzare Irish rail related posters of all time? http://www.independent.ie/national-news/iran-on-track-with-help-of-irish-rail-1767781.html
  6. 207 Sold Class 59 Sold Many thanks to all involved. Will bubble wrap and send them on soon as possible. Tom.
  7. Too right Heirflick... would be a waste of a good loco. End result would require too much surgery to make it even vaguely like a DVT.
  8. Duely noted, thanks... tells ya what I know about British outline. Er not much.
  9. Hi Grange castle, nice collection of vehicles. I do like the Stobart trucks... such a ubiquitos site on Irish roads these days. Picked up one for my own layout. Must ask where did you source all the vehicle and transfers? It's tricky to come across half decent modern vehicles in the correct scale. No bother if your modelling the 50's or 60's thanks to Oxford diecast. I do like the 'Guinness Quality Team' Renault Traffic and Tesco truck... They would look good on any modern Irish layout Tom
  10. You're welcome. Glad to see them coming together. It'll be some rake when you're finished... hope you have plenty space! Top stuff dude, Tom
  11. I hear ya... I have the attic for mine. No insulation or walls... My layout is on hold until these minor details are rectified! Nice shipping containers by the way. They make an excellent backdrop for a container yard. Good stuff
  12. Some tasty work there NIR, those Mk3's are coming along nicely. The Canadian stock in the background's pretty cool too
  13. Hi all, been doing a bit of a sort-out at home and realised I have too many projects on the go. So I plan to sell on some stock, free up some funds to help insulate the attic and build a layout! I have the following locos for sale: 1. SOLD Lima class 201 'River Boyne' in old Enterprise livery. In as new condition with very little running, has it's original box with detailing kit unfitted.[/b] 2. SOLD Hornby class 59 in EWS livery. Lovely smooth runner and in as new condition. No box. Would like to sell these off as a pair, not separatly. Looking for 110 Euro for the lot. If posting in Ireland (i'll include postage). Living in Co.Waterford so can arrange collection if near by. Trains will be bubble wrapped and boxed up properly for postage. PM me if interested. Regards Tom.
  14. Looks like an aerial shot from a helicopter! Station building and backdrop look the business:-bd
  15. Jaysus... what have I started!!! For controvercial read... I actually quiet like Rail cars. Sure tis nothing like a loco hauled train but its better than taking the bus when ya want to travel from Waterford to the 'big smoke'. We may have to agree to disagree on this one. Not a bad old spot d'Imperial. Will definitley meet up for a pint with ya at next years show
  16. Will do Heirflick, as soon as my layout comprises of more than a pile of MDF in the shed and an empty attic space you'll be the first to know It's still a work in progress. Slow progress at that.... due to the day job taking up all my time. Last weekend I was framing walls, this weekend i'll be starting the insulation! Twas great catching up with ya at the show. You're a mine of information. Even if you don't share my controvercial views on railcars Tom.
  17. Fairplay to George for putting the show together. Really enjoyed the day. Plenty quality modelling on show, picked up a few bits for the layout plus some stuff for the modelling tool box. Also It was good to put some faces to names: Heir flick, Scahalane, Trainman, Dave etc... Great meeting you all Tom.
  18. Hi George, Hope the preparations are going well. Was away travelling over the Oct bank holiday so missed out on the MRSI and Wexford shows. Looking forward to catching up with ya on Sunday. Great to have something model/railway related down this neck of the woods. Best of luck with it. Tom.
  19. I second that. Some tasty work there Barl. Especially liking the stone arched viaduct.
  20. Nice bit of model bashing there Barl. Those Class 150's will look quiet well when they're finished. Closer to prototype than Bachmanns attempt at the 2700 Railcar I reckon. Keep up the good work. Also it's an inpiration to those of us afraid to get stuck into remodelling rtr British outline models into something more resembling Irish stock. Have a similiar railcar project I better be getting on with too. Just a bit daunting getting stuck into it. Keep us posted on your progress. Great stuff:tumbsup: Tom
  21. 082 on the 'timbers' looks the business. Its the type of freight I'd see most often down my way, usually parked up in Waterford West. Yet another reason to spur on building a layout of my own. Look forward to seeing plenty more of 082 in action on Tara junction
  22. Excellent scenic work. Everything from the weathering of the sleepers/track along with the tufts of crab grass growing up between... like it alot:) Nice stock by the way too.
  23. Excellent work there Irishthump, the kadees and original intercity livery look the business.
