Pity about the shipping costs, the ditch lighting would look the business. I wouldn't be a fan of the Santa Fe livery myself. I always liked Southern Pacific. It was simple, but effective. Grey body, with red ends, and always heavily weathered.

Lovely job. The plow and hoses are a great addition, and finish off the lead end nicely. The added detail also bulks up the look of the model, which is something I've always liked about the SD40.

Agree completely, Rich. I think I might have said something similar when my NIR packs first arrived. It highlights yet again, how good a model the Craven is, when it takes something of this quality to finally knock it off top spot.

Finally got around to having a proper look at the two IE packs that I ordered. And when out of the box, these are just stunning. The detail, the paint job, lighting, and packaging. Perfect.

Sorry, who are you, another one of Captain Nostalgia's musketeers? I'll explain what I mean. It's quite simple really. Nowadays, Irish Rail get passengers from A to B and in the process of doing so, try to break even. Reason being, because it's not 1984 anymore. @Noel brought up forty years ago, which by the way has nothing to do with the original post in this thread. @DJ Dangerous has explained exactly what I meant above, so has saved me the bother of wasting anymore of my time on this today.

You can dangle the carrot, but I'm not biting. My comment was based on the fact, that some people were of the opinion that these would be slow to move. It seems that they are proving popular, which is always a positive sign for Irish railway modelling in general. I've no interest in getting into the issues regarding the previous run. Some, thought that the colour was off, and they're entitled to their opinion. I'm just glad we have manufacturers willing to produce these models.

What decoder are you using there, Noel. It sounds a little more beefed up, than the MM decoder for the 201. Or maybe I'm wrong.

Any decent 21 pin should do the job. I had a spare one lying about from DCC Concepts which I popped in, and it worked fine. All lighting on the driving trailer is now working independently.
