  1. Looks like Ian's ebay handle (ie MIR). I managed to buy some kits from him via ebay last year.
  2. She looks fabulous underway. Serenely realistic layout scenes also. Class.
  3. Did the buyer of this not realise a Murphy Model version is coming out? €300 ???? https://www.ebay.ie/itm/124647734562?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11010.m1951.l6663&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=18c8c980c353476583acd4e71f88ecbc&bu=44530438529&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20210329061719&segname=11010&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cut%3Dut%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid
  4. Fabulous scenes
  5. Not much to see, painted the ply back scene boards a very light sky blue (Dulux Liberty Blue 6). Backscene rolls will take better to paint than ply, and if the boards are taller than the back scene rolls the tops won't stand out as much and may even blend in. Currently installing DCC wiring which is rather tedious. First coat on Friday.

    Gort workbench

DCC dropper board kits assembled for Gort. These boards are daisy chained together for form the DCC bus and each board can feed 8 pairs of droppers. There's alternative components such as LEDs as documented on the MERG website (eg for short circuit detection, etc). These are kits produced by WMRC's DCC electronics and MERG whiz, @Junctionmad(Dave) Easy to solder no risk of creating shorts due to the space available. http://bit.ly/3bsELCV
  7. Yes. Used a Lenz silver+ it fits in the tender. There’s enough space in there for a sugar cube speaker alright, but those N class were not the most smooth low speed runners.
  8. I tell ou now, nowat dats an uttur dissgraesh, ou wudnt no a kiry man if ou met him at all at all, ou haf me kilt schton ded wit laughing ut loud. Doz miserable detwanderthals from cark haf not one bit uv a brain cell between al uv dem, ant dey all talk like gerls singing wurds. Dish is de kingdum riaght fella. No yella in kiry. Wat class uv A fella wud tink udderwise?
  9. Thanks for that info that looks great. F5,6,8,& 13 look like the prototypical drivers biz! F28 looks interesting, but I presume F5-Throttle hold converts the throttle inputs to notching commands while drive hold is enabled.
  10. Thanks Stephen, In the past ESU were not famed for their focus on prototypical driving capabilities just the sound tracks. Their recent 121 project failed in this respect (ie no braking, coasting nor any 'ESU full throttle' driving features). Really Looking forward to sound equipped A classes with the innovative features on the loco such as magnetic decoder hatch, keep alive, speakers, lights, etc, no to mention the precision body and stunning chassis detail.
  11. Holy Moly I bought 4 of those only a few years ago at a Stillorgan Chris Dyre fare for €30 each. Scary what's happened with some ebay prices.
  12. Comprendee. I went with Lenz Silver+(€25) for my non-sound locos at the time, now most have eventually become LokSound and a few Zimo's but the sound projects available for LokSound drive better than Zimo which has 'real drive' and is quite prototypical. ESU caught up with their 'full throttle capability a few years ago'. Hope the A class decoder makes use of full throttle feature such as coasting, braking and throttle hold for manual notching.
  13. A nice option though for kit or scratch built locos that offers easier lighting integration and keep alive. Would have been handy a few years ago for SilverFox kits and 3D locos.
  14. There's about as much chance of yellow s*** running on our layout as there is of Fr Jack Hackett allowing a nun to push his wheel chair past a pub!
  15. I have another 085 which I bought in Marks Models about 7 years ago.
  16. Nice surprise in the post this morning DCC dropper board kits arrived from WMRC electronics wizard Dave McCabe. These can be daisy chained and handy for baseboard connections where only two bus wires need to run from PCB to PCB with droppers feeding down to them.
  17. Ha, just about to respray an 071 donor (formerly 085) into freight grey. Picked it up inexpensively on ebay some years ago as a potential donor chassis for a B101 kit I have, but think I'll use another Bachmann donor I got off ebay for that instead and respray the 071 into grey. Rake of 7 resprayed mk3s during covid safety restrictions. 7 Mk3s done, Left to right, Hornby (ex virgin), Hornby (ex Virgin), Lima (ex BR Swallow), Lima (ex BR Swallow), Lima Murphy Model RTR, Hornby Shortie (ex BR Blue), Hornby Shortie (ex BR Swallow). One more Shortie in the paint shop at the moment. And EGV on the cutting bench. Hauled by 182. I don't really like 201 prototype as a model, too long for my taste. I suppose there should be an IR tippex 071 hauling that set.
  18. I never tire of seeing wonderful scenes like this from Tara Junction. Love the three double header consists, those baby GMs are so versatile they can do everything in consist from heavy freight to mainline passenger rail, expresses, and in singles local branch trains, routes to smaller towns like Galway, Waterford, and shunting, pilot duties and light goods trains.
  19. Its just like asking a Cork man what part of Kerry his family hail from.
  20. The american guy seems annoyingly loud. Interesting video. The copper masking is clever. When I saw this on the video I first thought they were models of canal house boats like you see in Amsterdam, rather than trains.
  21. Thanks for info Robert. But the grills are not listed on that FB page.
  22. Exactly. I find mk3s and 201s too long for typical layouts and look all wrong on curves, not to mention the length of a rake. The Baby GMs and 2 axles wagons or 57ft coaches are my favourite. They just look right in the non-scale world of a layout. The only minor snag with the shorties is you need to source buffers for them.
  23. Passengers being fitted. Some legless, but as they say in monty python 'tis but a scratch', 'me legs will grow back, I can still bite you know!' x
  24. One final Hornby 'shortie' respray Resprayed the black chassis black on top of grey primer coat because the pristine shiny black plastic looks toy like and weathering paint won't take to that plastic. This will bring the rake of mk3s up to 9 coaches inc EGV (when I've finished the EGV).
