  1. Fair enough - not quite sure what they're getting at......
  2. ^ Is that video visible to you all? I got this 'warning' after I posted it - "This video is unlisted. Be considerate and think twice before sharing."
  3. Indeed, and I would have been reluctant to post this, if it hadn't come through Irish Rail itself. I'm sure that Belmond know what they're doing, far better than I do, but it does seem very ambitious on such a small network.
  4. You only have to look at the pictures of the Royal Scotsman clientèle to suspect that it might not be for 'us' - but, we can still watch it go by....
  5. Another bus fire - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-29913960 .
  6. This - http://www.belmond.com/royal-scotsman-train/ - is their Royal Scotsman train - not many people in anoraks.....
  7. The info came from tweets retweeted by Irish Rail - as legit a source as there could be....
  8. This sort of accommodation is proposed.
  9. This has been announced - http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20141105006215/en/Belmond-Launch-Luxury-Touring-Train-Ireland#.VFp5HDSsV8F - it will be interesting to see what actually happens. Will we see Mk 3s on the network again?
  10. Bray to Dublin is still on iPlayer for some reason - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01bqktm/great-british-railway-journeys-series-3-21-goes-to-ireland-bray-to-dublin - for those in the remains of the Empire - or with a proxy server...
  11. In the old days there used to be such things as Pattern Makers' Rules - these were available in various degrees of "contraction", depending upon the material being cast - they were a few % over-size, so that the casting made from a pattern constructed with them would shrink to the correct size on cooling. You could make a rule of your own to suit your contraction rate - if nobody has a more sensible solution.
  12. The Hornby R076 is not far off. Edit - Snap!
  13. Bending the backboards around corners can be beneficial, too.
  14. Somebody's hit the crossing at Ballymahon - .
  15. ..possibly been picking slivers of Perspex out for a couple of weeks..?
  16. Beautiful. How many made?
  17. Seems to be still around - http://highlandmiscellany.com/2014/06/03/last-train-to-castle-rackrent/
  18. I won some tickets to Warley a couple of years ago - never again - it was like somebody had dug up a mass grave with some railway layouts in it.
  19. ..moved onto that 'other' list..
  20. Might be wise to leave the canopy open, they were notorious for filling the cockpit with carbon monoxide - various modifications were applied (longer exhaust stubs, sealing the small door shut, etc), but it was never really cured and a lot of pilots used the oxygen mask continuously, whenever the engine was actually running.... ..keep the extractor fan in that spray booth running..
  21. I still have a Nokia 3510, but the chap I sent it to said that it works.
  22. That Lego QR code is genius.
