I haven't made many comments on this thread, as I would soon run out of superlatives, or just keep repeating them - but, bugger it, I've got to say something - That is, as Julian and Sandy would have said, Fantabulosa!
When I had a proper job, I once returned to the office, having just done a half-million volt test in the open air, with kit similar to that, only to be told that I couldn't use the kettle because it didn't have a safety compliance sticker on it.

Have you tried the excellent flight simulator in Google Earth? Control/Alternate/A will bring it up - very good, especially hammering up and down the Swiss valleys - and you don't even have to shoot at people..

Ours was a fully enclosed box that protected from a fall in any direction - I wouldn't want to drop one of them too far, if it rolls over during the fall, it could get exciting...
It doesn't matter too much now, though, they only have to transport them up the motorway, I suppose. The old ones were intended for worldwide replenishment.
I can't find any pictures of the cases anywhere - they were a rivetted and framed aluminium case with a suspension system that was supposed to cushion the impact if it was dropped from 75 feet.
The white patch here is the remains of the concrete pad that we dropped them on.
