  1. Sadly, the Transport and Folk Museum have nothing. I'll try the local council offices, after all, they demolished it in 1971!
  2. John, not a bad thought. I've just emailed them.
  3. Does anyone have access to the archives at IRRS in Dublin. Would be interesting to know if architects drawings are available for Omagh GNRi station. I've spent a lot of time extracting information from over 100 photographs but one last shot at finding the actual drawings would be great. I have the engineers track plans and building plans but some areas of the elevations are difficult, without photographs of every corner.
  4. I was thinking about taking out membership to the Scalefour Society where I would like to explore the exciting world of Irish broad gauge and P4 standards. There are also a wealth of folk with special interest in Irish. However, on looking at pricing, availability etc I'm not sure its a good idea.
  5. I can understand where Kieran is coming from and respect what he has to say. It is very easy to caught up in an open forum where it is all to easy to vent your disappointment. I came away from Bangor quite disappointed. I discussed this in an earlier posting but I guess it was my own fault that I didn't arrange to meet up with forum members on the day. I had some great conversation with the folk at the IRM stall and that really made my day!
  6. The endless money drip.........
  7. Sorry, I won't. I've dismantled everything. Everything model railway is packed away in a storage box - awaiting my interest.
  8. Pictured is a typical grain wagon at Omagh, they worked there every day next the convent siding where Scotts Mill driver Eddie McAleer would draw grain away to Scotts Mill on a daily basis. This 4 wheel wagon is similar to Diagram 19 in the IRRS Wagon book, although it was a 6-wheeler. The steps and the shuts are similar however the 'top fillers were removed' and sheeted over.
  9. Kieran, your layout is without any doubt breathtaking. Has it ever been featured in Railway Modeller? It should be....
  10. Noel, I'm quite happy to look at airbrush also, maybe you can recommend a set up. At the moment, everything is on hold. I've still not started building my shed - I had a bedroom to do with insulated plasterboard and that got me side-tracked, waiting for plaster to dry before painting. I'm waiting my summer holidays at the end of June and a good dry day to get the shed started. In the meantime, I'm exploring!
  11. Very nice photograph, this is much easier than previous photos I think. Well spotted!

  13. Can someone advise me on a suitable aerosol that would finish plasticard and similar scratchbuild wagons. Don't want to buy into an airbrush just yet so it's cans only. Is a great primer suitable?
  14. I was delighted to get about 15 photos of various bread containers and a selection of wagon photos. Among them was a glimpse of this Jacobs container. Not the best of shots, but interesting!
  15. Of course, they exist. The photo I have isn't the best but it clearly shows the container and logo with numbers on the side. The chassis is covered by GNRi vans in the foreground.
  16. Wiping my MacBook at moment to install new OS. Will get back to you asap.
  17. I know we had Inglis, Hughes, Stevensons and Brewster bread containers but I received an interesting photo recently and in the background what looked like a Jacobs container (biscuits!. It sports the 'JACOB'S' logo and has No. M621 and M375. Has anyone ever seen these or have knowledge of them?
  18. Richard, at the moment I'm awaiting price, theres no commitment!
  19. I am talking to a designer at the moment via Shapeways. I am told that with the correct materials, finished products can be of a very high quality though I imagine this puts the price up. I know little about Shapeways but a 3d engineering designer is modelling a wagon for me, as we speak, with a view to production. He is coming back to me with a price over the next few days.
  20. The isolation of the west
  21. Kieran, absolutely brilliant. I know that tractors and cars were transported by rail to Omagh Market Branch and were moved across the road to Torneys Garage.
  22. Paul, its really worth being here, very helpful bunch! Welcome
  23. I have often wondered what Omagh General Station would look like today if it still existed, or would they have tossed the old station buildings to make way for a modern station out of town? I would like to run modern trains through the model of Omagh, so what should I be looking at as a standard passenger train running on NIR lines today.
  24. My real strengths are buildings and structures, maybe if I had a modellers toolkit and a magnifier/light. Until I get my new shed built and on site i'll take a break from modelling.
  25. I'm sorry, just finding it tough
