spudfan Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Wonder how long before one of these finds its way to Inchicore Works? This distributor handles sales for UK and Ireland. Sales here would be limited. There would be a big "green" announcement if one did end up at Inchicore. Broithe Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 We had a battery shunter where I worked - not sure what happened to it in the end, though. 1 Quote
Broithe Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 OK, it did survive, it seems. https://ribblesteam.org.uk/exhibits/diesel/english-electric-ee788-1930/ Quote
jhb171achill Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Wouldn't be surprised. They might get one each for Inchicore, Drogheda and Port Laoise..... Quote
Mayner Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Don't forget the Irish made Unilok C-1000e https://www.unilok.ie/c-1000e Battery Electric Rail/Road shunter. Unilok transferred manufacture from Germany to County Galway in the 1970s and export yard their yard shunters Worldwide. 2 Quote
ei6jf Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Doesn't Portlaoise (ICR depot) have something similar? Or at least it did have when it first opened. Now that I think of it I haven't seen any images of it in a while. Mark 1 Quote
jhb171achill Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Then there was the “beetle” at Wellington Bridge - wonder what became of that? Quote

Mark There was talk of a similar small shunt loco to be acquired for use in Inchicore to replace the last of the 141's, but usually a spare 071/201 does the honours now 1 Quote
Niles Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) There is a small Zephir LOK 1400 loco in Inchicore, only there a few years. Can't remember what the power source is, might be diesel. I believe it's very much restricted in use but powerful for its size. Edited January 18, 2022 by Niles Quote
