gm171 kk
Very nice, the detail on your models is always imrpoving. Will these be available in a set? Maybe four ammonias and two barrier wagons?

RedRich
The wagons look very nice and finished to a high standard. They should be very popular. All the best for Christmas and the new year Rich,
Kirley
Great to see these very distinctive Irish wagons are available again after MRI retired from the modelling scene. I have been told the heavy weight of the MRI wagons was the one drawback of their models and I was wondering if IFM (Irish Freight Models) have overcome this on their models. Irish Freight Models
Great to see these very distinctive Irish wagons are available again after MRI retired from the modelling scene. We tried to get a balance between strength and weight, but given their sheer bulk, they are weighty, still i believe they will be hauled well by an MM loco but a hornby chassis A class may struggle a little on a full rake, we shall see. They are an imposing wagon alright. GM171, We will be looking to offer a wagon pack, eg, 3 tankers, 1 barrier maybe !, half a rake Keep an eye on my site for updates. Wexford70
Great models! Can anyone advise on when the different logos were used on the tankers?
jhb171achill
I have to say I can't remember a change of logo, but when new they were painted white on the actual tank bit, with dark green below (bogies also, I think), and an orange stripe perhaps a foot thick along the waistband of the tank. The white weathered fairly quickly with brake dust to look creamy coloured or light brown.
dave182
Wexford70, I've been doing a lot of research into this over the past 12 months. The tanks were delivered in the 'NET' Livery ('79 maybe, early 80's??) as per this photo: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2322557 Here is a picture labelled 'ex-Works' pictured at Limerick Junction. It has no logo. This contradicts the first picture. I was then thinking that maybe its just been re-sprayed in Limerick works, byt they would hardly go to the trouble of applying maufactures logos and so on. I believe that possibly the tankers were delivered in 2 batches so maybe 1 with logos and 1 without? The 'IFI' logo starts to appear in pictures around 1987 at the end of the CIE Supertrain livery era. Finally, here is a good link showing the Ammonia Tanks in all their guises. It looks as though they carried no logo mid to late 90's, but there is also an image in there of a CIE livered A Class with a rake of tanks (No logo), which could be any time from 1980 to 1992-3! http://www.geograph.ie/snippet/7702 Edited May 15, 2013 by dave182

Wexford70
Thanks Scahalane and Dave. Have also seen a class 201 pulling a set with no logos. Hard to know what to try and model.
