Perhaps someone will now produce an rtr model of Mr Bulleid’s Turf Burner…

Cheers

If firms are brave enough to produce models of very short-lived test beds like this, then the Turf Burner should be a runner. Arguably so should its predecessor, no.356 the Mental Turf Burning Locomotive.

In similar vein, the LMS high-pressure 6399 Fury. Also the Great Eastern's Decapod tank no.20.

Wow, that is impressive but mad! is there nothing that some niche company will not produce ready to run? I live in greater hope of a CB&SC Baldwin  0-6-2t  or maybe a D&SE 2-6-0. Both engines of very small classes.

Unusual one-off prototypes seem to attract more attention than the less common but still run-of-the-mill locos.

I tend to agree, there's more chance of a model of the '......mental' 356 than there is of a model of its class in more typical condition.

But realistically the chance of either is negligible. Preserved and operational locos will have a much wider appeal, and are there to measure. For Irish steam, 4 or 186 are surely the prototypes of choice as they were both large classes with widespread use, probably 171 as a third option?

Given that they have produced a whole host of ficticious liveries on Leader, I'm surprised they didn't paint one in Irish colours!

I'm slightly surprised they didn't offer the Leader under the running numbers (36002-5) that never actually ran..

Show off! Actually, Darius, I am cross that I didn't opt for a sound one, but drew the line at a DCC-fitted one as I thought mine would just go into the glass case. However, I'm so pleased with it that it's likely to get used on GAA and cattle specials and be kept on the layout.

I wonder if i paid the difference would they swap it for a well run-in model?

Please put up a video of it with a string of coaches so that we can hear the chuffage!

I glanced at the book a couple of nights ago and only noticed a half built 36003 - did anything of 4 and 5 exist at the time the project was scrapped/

But it IS in Irish colours - the prototype livery which Darius and I chose is very close to the A Class silver - see mine alongside the stand-by A Class at Portadown Jct.

Looking forward  with Trepidation to getting mine, Will book end the Bulleid locos I have.

Have read some tales of woe regarding wheels falling off and broken models.

Yes, I saw that Review Video too! Mine has survived about an hour's running over the worst-laid track on any model railway! Of course, behind all those covers, there might be no wheels at all!

I understood that construction of the underframes of 36004/5 had been started, if not a lot else.
