M.G.W.R_CLASS_50_1939 Posted Monday at 15:28 Posted Monday at 15:28 Hi everyone my names callum and I was just wondering is there anyone who is selling any models of 800 class maédb or is there anyone that'd build one as I am currently building the only working minature live steam replica of an 800 maédb a 7 1/4 inch gauge live steam working replica and I've always wanted a 00 gauge model of maédb but with building a 7 1/4 gauge replica of maédb most of my time is taken up trying to build it from scratch so I'd like to get a 800 class 00 gauge maédb to have in the mean time lol Quote

M.G.W.R_CLASS_50_1939 Posted Monday at 17:22 Author Posted Monday at 17:22 Okay thanks definitely I'm hoping to have it done in 2 or 3 year hopefully for maédbs 90th birthday in 2029 as maédb Is my favourite locomotive of all time and me and my father build minature steam locomotives as did my great grandfather and maédb has been on my building project since July 2023 and I'm in the process of building the boiler at the moment out of copper and im currently trying to custom build all the outside motion but I'm trying to find someone who can down scale the maédb full size drawings down to 7 1/4 but I'm working away it should be done by 2027 hopefully Quote

Killian Keane Posted Monday at 19:13 Posted Monday at 19:13 Id say the 7 1/4" one is about as close as we'll ever get to seeing the real one steam! I have a kit in 00 for the hornby royal scot chassis, soon to be made for the Airfix RS chassis too 1 Quote
M.G.W.R_CLASS_50_1939 Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Unfortunately yes it seems that way if I had the money to bring the full size maédb back I would as I'd sooner get rid of any other irish steam trains that are left I'd only keep maédb 171 slieve gullion and 85 merlin all the rest I don't care about but yes my 7 1/4 replica maédb I currently have it built up to the chassis and wheels and I've started on the copper boiler I'm hoping to get started driving arms and cylinders before the end of 2025 as I want to have it running before maédbs 90th birthday in July 17th 2029 I am planning on having a medium sized celebration for maédb's 90th birthday at my local minature railway in marlay park Dublin On 3/2/2025 at 4:05 PM, GSR 800 said: I commissioned it from @Killian Keane of Small Loco Works, who designs and prints 3d models to an excellent standard. jhb171achill Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Callum, you had asked me in recent days about where the drawings might be - they've been posted on another thread here in the last 24 hours. Hoping you saw them. It seems CIE have them now. To others here; I've seen the frames for 800 which Callum has made already. Ooooh boy, this locomotive when finished will be a real BEAST!! Can't wait! Quote
