James Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Hi all, After a lovely weekend at home organising and tidying round my layout I finally built up the courage to start a thread online showing my progress. I’m sure a few people have seen some of my posts on Facebook or instagram showing how the layout is coming along, and I’m sure one or two of you have come across my terribly but hilariously put together YouTube videos. If you’re lucky enough to not have come across anything yet, fear not, I will attach all the links down below. This evening I will give a better, more in-depth run down of the layout, rolling stick and ideas that are coming along, but I thought there’s no better time to start than the present! 7
James Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 Further to yesterday’s post here are the most recent photos that I have of the layout of the layout. I’m hoping by next weekend I should have a few videos of different rolling stock running during breaks of working on the board. I don’t have full dimensions as of yet so again I’ll be updating this thread more thoroughly then. But until then enjoy modelling! 5 2
James Posted November 10, 2025 Author Posted November 10, 2025 Here’s the link to my YouTube channel folks! https://youtube.com/@woodgatejunction4133?si=xVfqlEHWffymX5Jn I uploaded a video earlier that I’ve been working on over the past few weeks. It’s not perfect but it’s getting there! If you have a minute feel free to look through my videos, or hit subscribe please as the more people I see are showing an interest the more I want to keep improving my videos and working on the layout. I live by ‘rule 1’ so not everything will be correct or perfect but that’s all part of the fun! Anyways, back to hibernation and studying for the next while! 2
Flying Snail Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 NIce to see the layout James - that's an interesting mix of rolling stock you have there. Hope to see more of it getting a spin around the layout. Good luck with the youtube channel - sound is much better on the recent one 1 1

Yeah, I’ve spent a bit of time living/working in the states and there is just something about the trains and vehicles over there that I have a love for. I try to get a piece of rolling stock/cheap loco in every country I go to to remind myself of the memories from there! I hope that is the last of the messing around with the track for now so that it’ll be smooth sailing and continuous running from here fingers crossed! Thanks for the support! Hoping to get more videos made/uploaded over the coming weeks. 1
dropshort105 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 I love your railgun, any closeup shots of it ? 1
DJ Dangerous Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Super space there. I see a Galway set hiding at the back. Echoes of Knockseo Junction in places.

Not at the minute, it was my brother and currently in storage while I work on the boards. I’ll see if I can get it out for some photos for you over the next few weeks 15 hours ago, DJ Dangerous said: Super space there. I see a Galway set hiding at the back. DJ Dangerous Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Have just logged into YT to subscribe, @James. Much prefer the second layout video, without the mattress shop music. 1

James Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 With a little bit of time off over Christmas I decided to have a stab at static grass! Here’s the bit of the hilly field and campsite that I worked on. Fairly happy with it, not bad for a first attempt I think 10
James Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Work has continued on Woodgate junction since the last post. A track plan rework aswell as an extension to the main board are but a few of the recent ‘permanent way’ works. I am currently in the middle of reorganising the logistical parts of the layout ie storage etc, so I will upload more up to date image once everything is cleaned and tidied
James Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Working on wiring recently, finally got the town centre lights up and going. Keeping pushing on with the work IMG_7935.mov 2
James Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 (edited) Here's some recent photos of the layout, now with finalised mainline layout. I extended out 30 cm from the main board to allow for the outer curve to be Radius 5 to accommodate some of my longer American freight cars that I have. This, paired with the idea of the heritage line, lead me to add a second level crossing (which needs raised in the centre to smooth the gap between the two), and space on the far left beside the workshops for more storage lines and space on the right hand side for a permanent way depot/siding for ballast wagons and work vehicles. I designed my own super elevation pieces to allow the track to have a more modern and realistic feel to it! I'm flat out in work over the next while but now that I have sorted my locomotives and rolling stock into storage, I can now work freely underneath the board, which shall hopefully ease and speed up the electrical work. I'm hoping to extend into the control area further soon, allowing me to finalise the river layout and design. I need to fit point motors then I can ballast, but if anyone has any ideas on what I can work on scenicly before then that would be great! If you haven't already, go take a look at my youtube channel, Woodgate Junction, which has a recent video talking through the future of the layout as well as the recent works. Any advice, pointers, chit-chat or replies to what you think of the layout so far is greatly appreciated! Helps me to improve the ideas I have! Edited May 19 by James 8
Mol_PMB Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Impressive layout, and the sweeping curves look good - hopefully you can still reach the middle? Note to others: although the images don't show in the post, they can be viewed when downloaded.

I have cut out access wells that slot into place and will have scenic bits covering the cuts The photos should hopefully be fixed now 3
